The Obama administration's attempt to have it both ways with homosexuals in the military has failed, at least for the moment. The 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals on Wednesday stayed a reckless lower court order that attempted to overturn the "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" law prohibiting homosexuals from serving openly in the military.
U.S. District Judge Virginia A. Phillips, a Clinton appointee, decided on her own authority that she would re-write the compromise enacted by Congress after years of contentious public debate that continues to this day. While Mr. Obama openly embraces what Judge Phillips tried to accomplish, as president he had little choice but to defend an act of Congress in court. Hence, while Assistant Attorney General Tony West urged the appellate panel to block the Phillips ruling temporarily, Mr. Obama was giving a wink to the Defense Department, which quickly came out in favor of recruiting homosexuals into the armed forces.
Judge Phillips issued her decree enjoining enforcement of "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" on Oct. 12. Within less than a week, the Pentagon was ordering military recruiters to bring homosexuals into the armed forces - even though it was obvious to all observers that this high-profile case would end up being decided by the Supreme Court. When the defense establishment maneuvers more quickly than the judiciary, you know something's up. This clearly was a plan to do this in advance.

I suspect Obama’s strategy is to appeal this up the ranks with poorest of legal arguments. Then the highest court will rule against him, and he’ll say, “i tried”.
You may well be right. I don’t think there’s any way with present SCOTUS this dingbat judges ruling will survive.
Does anyone believe that we will receive blessings from God with this type of depravity? Even for those of you who in here that ‘mock’ us believers and ‘mock’ God...do you believe we are going to flourish/succeed when the military is trying desperately to get a stamp of approval on rectal sex? It is such a despicable, disgusting, vile act, even non believers have to realize a society is destined to fail when it endorses depravity.
As bray says: Pray for America
Amen to that, OW!
We’ll have an army of limp-wristed cornholers, and “men” wearing skirts and pink beret’s. What have we done?
The military recruits pretty heavily from the more conservative sectors of society, including Christians. If you get open homosexual vice, you're going to have a recruitment/retention problem in terms of the "morally straight" troops, and the military is going to deteriorate into a sexually predatory subculture like the prison system: men intimidating men.
Am I overstating this?
If Obama was honest, he would have stuck to his promises. No matter where you stand, vote accordingly.
I was watching some NFL game last Sunday. Field goal kicker went out twice in pink shoes and missed his FG both times. The third time he had changed back to his regular shoes and made the FG.

No, and this is one of the things that ticks me off most with our elected ‘leaders’!
They find time to let comedians hold court, they have hearings over baseball, football, hangnails— should our military go vegan and gazillion other useless follies.
Most of the time they remind me of a 6yr old girls playing grownup, in moms dress, to attend useless, silly, little playtime tea parties (ha, not the 1773 sort, either!)
This is an issue that demands attention, thoughtful work and solutions and some prayers darn sure wouldn’t hurt the lot of them!
We will not be able to wish this away and it’s the WRONG thing for our military, I don’t care if you’re gay or not—this should be obvious—it’s not best for our country.
Screw the individual and their wittle feelings...military isn’t now and never has been— about feelings and individuals.
The people that want to do this, aren’t looking out for the best interest of our nation.
I’d remind Bostick that the last time a major military power was based on buggery, it also had rum and the cat-o-nine-tails. Hmm, come to think of it, Bostick might like that.
All blessing given by God in this present fallen world is an “in spite of” blessing. America hasn’t “earned” it any more than has any other earthly institution. Of course it still remains true that it’s unwise to shake a fist in God’s face.
I don’t know.
I believe the problem initially is going to come from command, the troops in the field are not going to put up with gay behavior.
Generals and lower commanders like this Bostick are not going to be thinking of anything but climbing the ladder and it won’t help morale in the least.
It definitely could put a crimp in recruitment, especially with Christians and Jewish people. It can’t help our military in any way, IMO.
Bump!
Yeah; I can’t imagine enlisting voluntarily to join THEM.....
I believe the Holy Spirit brings this verse to my mind (When I am careless with my thought life): “If I regard iniquity in my heart, the LORD will not hear me:” (Psalm 66:18)
Another is in 1 Peter 3:12:
“For the eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and his ears are open unto their prayers: but the face of the Lord is against them that do evil.”
If we look back at the instructions given to husbands and wives (in verses 7-11) “.... that your prayers be not hindered.”
As nations we are intructed:
“The wicked shall be turned into hell, and all the nations that forget God.” (Psalm 9:17)
“Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD; and the people whom He hath chosen for His own inheritance.” (Psalm 33:12)
“Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people.” (Proverbs 14:34)
Proverbs 15:8 reads: “The sacrifice of the wicked is an obimation to the LORD: but the prayer of the upright is His delight.”
The saga of out-and-about traitor Bradley J. Manning (who slipped the Afghanistan and Iraq reports to Wikileaks-guy) makes it abundantly clear that you can be just as gay as you want in this man’s army already and get away with it.
