A Transportation Security Administration supervisor has been arrested for allegedly stealing thousands of dollars in cash from passengers going through an airport checkpoint.
As passengers -- mostly foreigners heading home -- came through the checkpoint at New Jersey's Newark Liberty International Airport, the supervisor and another TSA agent would subject them to secondary searches and allegedly take cash from their carry-on bags.
The supervisor, Michael Arato, 41, of Ewing, N.J., was changed with one count of accepting bribes, one count of conspiring to commit theft and three counts of theft by a government employee. The other TSA worker is now cooperating with authorities and has not been named in court records.

Oh! Well, I’m glad he was charge with change.....
I would be bored too if my entire shift consisted of yelling at people’s faces for the entire 8 hour shift to place their laptops in a large plastic tray..
we should charge most of Congress with that.
Yes, that is why they now have taxpayer-paid x-ray vision.
I have a friend who is a TSA agent and he tells me that agents even steal from one another.
He bought himself a heavy-duty padlock to make sure that no one would break into his locker...
I just want the bastard that stole the suit out of my bag when I was flying back from Las Vegas back in 2005.
TSA is one of the most glaring examples of an idiotic response to a threat.
And has been sentenced to a lifetime position at the Department of Transportation.
And to think that all those people passed background checks.
A friend of my wife works at the boarding gates at SeaTac airport. She spends time walking through the “basement” to get to and from locations.
One day, while walking through this “basement” area she found two or three TSA employees rummaging through a couple of large bags in a “dark corner”. When they saw her they basically said something along the lines of “We’re inspecting bags. Move along, citizen.”
I don’t know what ever cam of that. It was around two years ago.
I never pack anything of value in a suitcase. Ever.

The TSA is nothing but a jobs program for the chronically unemployed.
FWIW, I only hit the post key once for the above two posts.
I am so not surprised by this. At LAX, the jerks who work those jobs are so not trustworthy and real assholes
TSA: They’ll Steal Anything
I thought Heathrow 1991 (under threat from the IRA) was more secure than Logan 2003. And the Brits, God love 'em, did it all with grace and humor.
Pretty much the same mentality is in play with the SEIU and AFSCME unionized government employees who see themselves as too special to be subjugated to the realities of the marketplace.
The fact that this type of crap is not even more widespread speaks well about American morals.
Thanks Slings and Arrows. I’m sure it’s just a huge misunderstanding, and that he voted for Obama.
