A vicious cycle (Williams firing)
http://www.powerlineblog.com/archives/2010/10/027513.php

Posted on 10/21/2010 4:26:15 PM PDT by chessplayer

National Review Online had an email exchange with NPR regarding the sacking of Juan Williams. Asked what exactly Williams said that NPR deemed inappropriate, Anna Christopher, NPR's senior manager of media relations, wrote: "We aren't going to get into a back and forth over semantics. The comment violated our ethics guidelines, and offended many in doing so" (emphasis added).

UPDATE: Vivian Schiller, the CEO of NPR, told an audience at the Atlanta Press Club that Williams should have kept his opinions between himself and "his psychiatrist or publicist."

I see no reason why the country has a need for NPR when it has CNN, MSNBC, the MSM and other leftist mouthpieces — especially when I have to support it. This is another matter that the new Congress must address.

Get rid of it.

Thanks Juan for all your years of service to NPR.
As a parting gift and to thank you for playing our game
(and to help you clean out your desk)
we want you to have this lovely Nina Totenbag to take home with you.

And Juan...
if you don't mind, please leave by the back door...

“NPR’s official line (about NPR’s commentators not voicing opinions) was already laughable. Nina Totenberg, NPR’s longtime legal reporter appears weekly on a show called Inside Washington. She expresses opinions, if that’s not too lofty a word for them, almost non-stop.

Libs are stupid, whacko idiots.

Anybody know which enumerated power the Feds use to give money to NPR ??

Time to send that propaganda machine to the junk heap. Remind you congressmen to dump NPR.

I turned off NPR 15 years ago. It is nauseating to listen to their PC socialist drivel.

It's that affected NPR accent that makes my blood curdle. In my 6 decades of living on this earth I have **never** met anyone who talks like that. What is this? Do they have an NPR speaking school?

...The comment violated our ethics guidelines, and offended many in doing so ...

OK. Since NPR is tax-payer funded, I want to see the specific guideline Williams violated. I would also like a list of those he offended. They should have no problem going on the record. Once we have that "list" (ha ha, like we'll ever see THAT!), then those people can be told that there is no right to not be offended.

Also, we can say that their views offend us, so they should be fired from NPR if they work there. If they don't, then it should not matter to NPR that they were offended.

I just said that to my hubby about 15 mins ago. If he sues, I think he’ll win.
