Fox News moved swiftly to turn the controversy over Juan Williamss firing to its advantage, offering him an expanded role and a new three-year contract Thursday morning in a deal that amounts to nearly $2 million, Matea Gold reports.
Roger Ailes took a jab at NPR in the process.
"Juan has been a staunch defender of liberal viewpoints since his tenure began at Fox News in 1997, he said in a statement. Hes an honest man whose freedom of speech is protected by Fox News on a daily basis.
In his new role, Williams will appear more frequently on the network and have a regular column on FoxNews.com.

“For once I actually made an accurate prediction.”
Me too! And I’m glad for Juan. He did a terrific job when he subbed for BOR - I know he’s a lib, but he’s not rabid.
Holy Smokes even Woopy Goldberg is defending Juan. Telling NPR needs to get this right.
He was just on BOR. He is [rightly] one angry man. He sees it for what it is. I urge anyone that missed it to watch the rebroadcast.
BOR is a man on a mission now. He is after the far left.
He is subbing tomorrow night as well.
:-)
A M E N, amen, and Amen!
The fact that my tax money is funding the left wing pukes who did this is what so totally pi$$es me off!
He said it and hes standing by it.
Good for him...
would that some in the GOP have such balls.
I find it amusing that no one here really had anything nice to say about Juan.
Until today.
Rush is RIGHT!
Again!
He appears to be somewhat civil. He’ll spice up the mix and, at the same time, be exposed to very cogent arguments. logical opinions, and unpleasant truths. He’ll be educated! (Unless he’s sleeper/subversive/plant. Then he’ll just be vaporized w/logic.
<BOR is a man on a mission now.
I don’t usually watch BOR anymore, but I caught that and you are exactly right. The folks at NPR better watch out because once BOR goes after someone, he doesn’t stop.
I felt sorry for Juan. I can’t imagine working someplace for 10 years, probably thinking that his co-workers were friends, and seeing Mara Liason keep her job while he gets kicked to the curb and not having strong feelings about all of this. Although, I guess the $2 million from FOX will be comforting. : )
And Juan - you need to learn what black conservatives have known for a long time - scratch a liberal, find a racist. Those people at NPR never had your best interests at heart and had no problem getting rid of you when you strayed from the party line. Eff ‘em and come over to the right.
“He is subbing tomorrow night as well.”
I missed the announcement, thanks!
If Libs want Lib radio, they need to pay for it.
“If I have to listen to a lib, Id rather it be Juan.”
I’ll second that — just hearing Shep’s voice gets on nerves.
You never know, maybe we can Hannitize him if he is going to be around more.
Although I agree with the sentiments you both expressed, forgive me if I laugh uproariously at this, coming as it does from two presumably self-identified "real" conservatives. With constant "RINO" hunts and attempts to enforce rigid group-think over at least the past decade, "real" conservatives have shown themselves to be anything but tolerant of even mildly diverging viewpoints. The whole tea party movement is exactly that -- an attempt to push the Republican Party further to the Right and squeeze out people thought to be too moderate for "real" conservative sensibilities.
Intolerance for other people's points of view can be seen here on FR daily, and has been on display here for years. The Left has no corner on the intolerance market; the Right practices it with just as much gusto. Just saying...
Juan is a liberal and I disagree with almost everything he says, but he is, as they say, an honest broker.
And NPR is a pile of leftists manure. I hope this destroys them.
Heheeheheee ... 'Fair and Balanced' indeed. Something that NPR and all the liberals couldn't hold a candle to.
We may be witnessing the demise of 'political correctness' and all its thought-control tactics here -- hoisted by their own petard. Good Riddance to it!
No more "Power To The CORRECT People" ... gotta love it :)
God forbid but you watch the muslims say or do something.
Sometimes when you lose, you end up winning.
Good for Fox and good for Juan. I don’t always agree with him, but I certainly defend his right to his opinion.
FUNPR!
