Fox hands [Juan] Williams $2 million contract

Fox News moved swiftly to turn the controversy over Juan Williams’s firing to its advantage, offering him an expanded role and a new three-year contract Thursday morning in a deal that amounts to nearly $2 million, Matea Gold reports.

Roger Ailes took a jab at NPR in the process.

"Juan has been a staunch defender of liberal viewpoints since his tenure began at Fox News in 1997,” he said in a statement. “He’s an honest man whose freedom of speech is protected by Fox News on a daily basis.”

In his new role, Williams will appear more frequently on the network and have a regular column on FoxNews.com.

Thanks to FoxNews for giving Juan Williams an expanded role. It was disgraceful what NPR did to him. Call them and tell them what you think: 202-513-3232.

Contact your member of congress and senators to de-fund CPB. Federal contribution to this no-longer-needed organization is $100 million per year. We don’t need it and certainly can’t afford it.

Send Juan Williams a note of support: yourcomments@foxnews.com

Bravo Fox.

The head of NPR was way over the line with that smirky comment about Juan talking to his psychiatrist.about the comments he made.

Welcome home Juan.

Interesting tidbit. NPR receives huge funding from MCDONALDS AND GUESS WHO SOROS.

no more Big Macs for me.

Wasn’t he playing that role at NPR?

I love Roger Ailes. FOX slips from time to time, but when the chips are down you can always count on Roger to do the right thing.

I agree with you on Williams tone. He is one of the few libs out there who isn’t angry and obnoxious. Seems like a guy you could have a great dinner with. I have no problems with this and good for Juan.

We need to focus our energy on getting NPR defunded. No need for this anymore. Many stations and the net out there to provide the socialist viewpoint. If Libs want Lib radio, they need to pay for it.

Listening to that hack from NPR today, I got the impression that they had severely limited Juan’s ability to speak his mind and truth. He was told to repeat liberal talking points or else. I think we will soon find out that Juan is further right on some issues than he has been allowed to show.

I have read some of his stuff.

He is very big, on personal responsibility, especially for young black men to "man up" when it comes to being responsible on family issues.

If I am not mistaken I believe I heard that Clarence Thomas is a Godfather to one of his children.

I could be wrong on that, but I don't think so.

Not that I care a whole lot about Juan Williams, but Foxnews did the right thing. Juan is, from what I've seen, a gentleman.

Journalists, and us for that matter, should be quivering in their boots over this firing. It's a start of the absolute takeover by George Soros! Thank God for the internet and sights like FreeRepublic!!!!!!

Good for Ailes, good for Fox, good for Juan. Juan drives me nuts some times, but he’s a good man, an honest man, a pleasant man, and I like him.

Now, Alan Colmes....that’s a different story. I wish FBN would dump him. I change the channel when he comes on. Neil needs to cut him loose.

Darn it all. I wanted to rub the left's nose in their hypocrisy, not watch Juan Williams on my TV set for 2 more years.

It's like the Don Imus or Opie and Anthony controversies. I support their right to say stuff, but I don't want to actually have to listen to it.

Then they need to be told to watch more. There are quite a few black commentators on Fox, and they’re all very good (except Professor Commie Mark LAMONT Hill) who’s a zero worshipper and race hustler.

FBN also has several black commentators, not all righties. One is a lawyer named Jay something and, although he’s clearly on the left, is still rational, shows some common sense, is polite and willing to discuss.

Hearing liberal talking points is exactly how you effectively disagree with them. What facts and figures do they argue off of? What do they claim is fact. If I have a guy who so many of us disagree with, we can take his liberal arguments apart, one at a time, it’s better than all conservative points set up on the news. In addition, I disagree with O’Reilly, but he’s part of the balance on the network.

"Wonder what he was making at National Pantywaist Radio."

More $$ than he had listeners, that's for sure.

This reminds me of when Dennis Rodman came to Bulls. For years, we Bulls fans hated him as he was a tough player and general pain in the rear end. As soon as the came to the Bulls, it all changed. Rodman may have been a jerk, but now he was “our jerk.”

I was hoping as soon as I heard about this that Fox would bring him aboard. Good job! Now let’s defund this socialist cesspool.
