(WBEN) - While he takes his pit bull around from campaign event to campaign event, Carl Paladino's dog Duke is attracting attention-- so much so that the campaign is featuring him in an open letter advising the media to engage in more original reporting.
From the Paladino campaign, here's the text of a statement released by and attributed to campaign manager Michael Caputo Thursday.
Media Colleagues:
The Office of Vital Statistics for the City of Buffalo alerted the Paladino family that the New York Times visited City Hall asking to see Duke's dog license. I want to alert the media right now that Duke is properly registered as a canine resident of Buffalo. Every day I get calls from reporters carrying water for Andrew Cuomo.
They read the same allegations, word for word, from memos provided by the Cuomo campaign. We spend time shooting them down, one at a time.
However, when one embarrassed reporter drops the story the Cuomo camp simply passes it down the food chain. Eventually, the Cuomo opposition research hits bottom at the New York Post - they invariably write it word for word.
To all of you who do your own reporting and reject the Cuomo script - thank you for your responsible journalism. To those who pretend to come to me with original ideas jumping off Cuomo's memos, word-for word - we're on to you. You are irresponsible, ridiculous and lazy.
Fred Dicker and the New York Post are gutter rats for stalking and photographing a ten-year old girl. I don't know what to think of the imperial Gray Lady tailing a dog. Any reporter who is compelled to put Duke under the spotlight, I give you an understated word of advice:
Beware of Dog.
In our state, the Mayor of Milwaukee (D) is running against the Milwaukee County Executive (R) for Governor of Wisconsin. The Mayor has been attending campaign events in an auto that has a lapsed registration. His campaign offices do not have the required permits and no matter how hard they try, the conservative talkers in the area cannot get the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel to report any of this. The media deck is so stacked.
Oh...my...gawd! You’ve got to be kidding?!
Checking his dog license?! That’s too dang much!
OMG that’s funny
The press must not feel cuomo’s victory is so safe if they are up to this...
I wonder if they ever noticed that $800 billion dollar housing meltdown thingy when Cuomo was in charge of HUD?
But they can't be bothered to check Obama's birth certificate.
Good to know that they have their priorities straight < /s >
but they won’t snoop around seeing if the POTUS has a proper birth certificate or who paid for his college

....!
Thanks, Cicero.
Please contact me if youre interested in being added on or taken off the Carl Paladino for Governor ping list. This looks to be a fairly high volume ping list for a while, probably until the election.
They certainly are getting desperate.
It didn't work with Checkers.
It won't work this time.
Duke for President, NOW!
Why do I keep saying how low can they go? Each time, they seem to get lower!
I cannot wait to cast my vote for Paladino & Gomez.
So if the doggie wasn’t licensed, do they really think people wouldn’t vote for Paladino? Maybe I’m paranoid but were they going to try to get someone bit by the dog and claim it didn’t have it’s shots? I don’t trust the press and they are really good at setups.
I heard today on news radio 88 NYC that “30% of Republicans intend to vote for Cuomo.” Bizarre.
Fred Dicker “hearts” Andi Boi.
Dicker has him on speed dial.
Fred Dicker 69 year old reporter slipping
When I had lunch with Dicker in Miami last year, I was surprised when he punched Andrew up on his speed dial of his cell phone and handed the phone over so Andrew could say hello.
How rich! I’m beginning to wonder if Cuomo’s poll numbers are truly what’s being reported...25% spread or are we all being duped.

I was at an event wednesday night making phone calls for the campaigh
The response was the EXACT OPPOSITE of what the media gleefully reported from the “siena poll”
The siena poll is a bunch of college students polling all the college professors around the campus in Albany
Everyone knows they are a joke but the media willingly report their ‘pools’ because they like the results.
It does not seem to matter that they were totally wrong in the primaries, and never have explained how or why they were so wrong
