It ‘s nice that the Huckster wants to glom onto this issue, welcome aboard I say. However, Republicans have advocated this for years. I’ll know they are serious when they actually do it.
That “2%” is just the tip of the iceberg. The only reason there are NPR stations all over the US is because they get preferential treatment from the FCC worth billions of dollars.
The very FIRST thing is to strip them of the title “public”. Then strip their advertisers and supporters of any tax deductions made by contributing money to them.
And then tell the FCC to *enforce* the rule that radio stations go to whoever gets the ratings. If Clear Channel can outperform “National Radio” in a market, and wants to compete with them for the radio band, guess who is going to get that radio band?

There is NO reason for state controlled or pseudo state controlled TV or radio in a free society. PBS, NPR, the BBC, etc are an outrage. We need separation of media and state.
NPR and PBS should be broken up. We need locally oriented, locally owned media outlets not giant national propaganda networks.
As long as I can remember people have wanted to defund NPR and as long as I can remember their funding has increased, GOP or Dem in charge didn’t matter.
