'Obama Has Turned Out to Be an Utter Disaster'
Der Spiegel (Germany) ^ | October 19, 2010

Posted on 10/20/2010 12:00:55 PM PDT by Schnucki

Karl Rove was one of President George W. Bush's closest advisers. SPIEGEL spoke with the political analyst about the widespread anger against Barack Obama and the prospects of Tea Party success in the coming midterm elections.

SPIEGEL: In the approaching midterm elections, the Republican Party is putting forward several unusually radical candidates, some of whom are not even "qualified to be a dog catcher," as one Republican said. What has happened with your party?

Rove: That's nothing unusual. In campaigns from both parties, people get nominated who are not typical, particularly in times of rapid change. For example, the Democrats in 1974, at the height of the Vietnam War, had a lot of very kooky candidates that they nominated.

SPIEGEL: Still, it's hard to imagine a major European party featuring a candidate like Christine O'Donnell, the Republican candidate in Delaware. She was forced to admit that she has experimented with witchcraft.

Rove: I know enough about European politics to know you've got a lot of crazy people who make their way onto the ballot.

SPIEGEL: You don't want to admit that O'Donnell isn't exactly a candidate that the Republicans can be proud of?

Rove: In Europe and the United States, you've got different systems to select candidates, and no system is perfect. In Germany you have a parliamentary system in which political parties weed out people. And the fact of the matter is that in Germany, on both sides of the aisle, particularly on the Social Democratic side, you have seen lousy leadership of the political parties that have allowed subpar candidates to emerge through the parliamentary system.

SPIEGEL: In what way?

Rove: You have had candidates that the country rejected in a pretty profound way. Our primary system prevents this from happening as often.

Yeah, the Germans really should be lecturing us on selecting leaders. What's the German word for leader? It's right on the tip of my tongue.

The grandparents of today's young Germans lived in a country completely in thrall to the most perverse pseudoscientific, gimcrack, whackjob political philosophy ever in the history of mankind. Lead by the most suave, educated, gracious, urbane and wise people ever seen in this world. When again, if ever, will the world know the likes of Himmler, Goering, Goebbels, Bormann, Streicher, ...

Give it a rest, meine Herren and Damen. Bitte.

What a bunch of arrogant turds the staff of Der Spiegel is!!! If they wonder why we Americans are so different than them, then they need take an honest look the tone of their interviewer.

I was surprised to see an establishmnet Republican like Rove stick up for Palin and the Tea Party in that interview.

Rove should have asked Der SPIEGEL if they ever did an in depth study of some of the members in the Black Congressional Caucus? Let's look at the democrat mental giants, Maxine Waters, Sheila Jackson Lee, John Conyers etc. I'll take O'Donnell any day over those clowns

Yup, right after the "Rove, you Benedict Arnold" thought, came "Have you seen our Congressional Progressive Caucus membership?"

You two have utterly failed to appreciate the good side of Karl Rove and the peculiar genius he has consistently displayed.

Here we have a man who can spend many hundreds of millions of other people's money, achieve epically lousy results, and yet has the unique ability to go back to the same people and get ... More Money!

This self described Idiot Savant also has the uncanny talent to take races Republican clients should win handily, and turn them into exciting cliff-hanger races that the Republicans actually lose! All at astronomical expense.

In the business world, if Karl Rove were an ad or marketing manager, he would have been offered a cigarette and a blindfold, and after being fired, be swiftly dispatched by painful means.

It is my profound wish that Karl be kidnapped by Latino illegal aliens ... those people he considers the "Republicans of The Future" ... and be held in a Barney-Frank-Boy-Brothel in Oaxaca, with me asked to put up a $5 ransom.

Need something to blame on Bush? Try his support of this anus.

Brilliant! Lol
I’d be ok if they took him to a bull fight in rosarita and put him in some red underwear.

Rove was important to W but... he’s no Dick Cheney. Better left in the back room than on the tube...

You really need to learn how to let your feelings out. Keeping things all bottled up inside isn't good for you.

Rove obviously messed up after CO won, but appears to be back with the program now. He’s actually pretty articulate in this short interview.

For proof, just look at the ticked-off leftists’ comments below the article.

Germany went totally gaga over Obama after his election (New Year's 2009, Berlin I believe). I say we give him to them.
