I've always thought that some day it would be cool to trash Obama, just as it was once cool to trash George W Bush. I also thought that, when that day came, Obama would have absolutely no idea how to deal with it.

Don't you wonder what it is like for him, his quiet/private times in the WH in the evenings? I would bet that he does self-talk to uplift himself and to do that, reminds himself of the inferiority and stupidity of the electorate, reinforces his need to save us all from our own ignorance, with a subconscious underlayment of the power he feels he has or should have due to his specialness. Then there's a part of me that wonders if he ever has thoughts like, “... maybe we should not have passed the health care bill since people did not want it....” But I suppose I am just hopeful for some sanity/logical/clarity of thought for him, which seems unlikely.

I think the author was Michael Barone-but I could be wrong. The public will come to hate a person or an idea when it has caused them sufficient suffering, and we may still be a ways off from that being the case. Of course, hating the cause of suffering and being able to undo it are two different things.

While that’s true, the adults have stepped in now. Like the children upstairs causing mass destruction, with the parents downstairs trying in vain to read the newspaper, the adults have now thrown the newspaper down and are screaming through the ceiling, “Don’t make me come up there” and then when that doesn’t work, the adults grab a belt (I prefer ballbat but in this scenario...might not be a good visual) and head upstairs. Afterwhich all that can be heard are the whimpers and stilted sobs coming out of the various rooms. (I prefer stone silence but again, that may not be appropriate for this illustration)
