The multiculturalism cult

Someone had to say it -- and German Chancellor Angela Merkel deserves credit for being the one with the courage to say it out loud: Multiculturalism has "utterly failed."

Multiculturalism is not just a recognition that different groups have different cultures. We all knew that, long before multiculturalism became a cult that has spawned mindless rhapsodies about "diversity."

In Germany, as in other countries in Europe, welcoming millions of foreign workers who insist on remaining foreign has created problems so obvious that only the intelligentsia could fail to see them.

"We kidded ourselves for a while," Merkel said in a recent speech, but now it's clear that the attempt to build a society where people of different languages and cultures could "live side-by-side" and "enjoy each other" has "failed, utterly failed."

This isn't a lesson only for Germany. In countries around the world, and over the centuries, peoples with jarring differences in language, cultures and values have been a major problem and, too often, sources of major disasters for the societies in which they co-exist.

Sheesh! Someone has actually figured this out after all these years. Thanks liberals, for another great experiment in feel good relations.

PC is starting to wear out its welcome in Europe. I can only hope that the trend spreads west.

Spot on! With the impediments of the "hate speech" laws in Holland and elsewhere, this man has sailed the reefs whith just a scrape or two but at no time has taken on any water.

I have friends here from Holland and they are all excited about his message and tell of their friends and family still there who are energized. The word is that he is a one man Tea Party over there waking up the masses. I was quick to give them a pimer to not be a organization around one person but use the starfish analogy.

The Tea Party movement here is a huge inspiration to many across the world just as the original revolution was so long ago. We are living in truly "historic times".

I heard the Department of Defense is going to issue a statement very soon that will be both incredible and incredibly PC ridiculous.

It will be signed by every member of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, including the Chairman, and also the Secretary of Defense.

It will say that "Diversity" is required to fight and win wars, and serve as the legal foundation for a new "Super Quota" system within the military.

I wish this were a joke, but it isn't.

I think you have to distinguish between the normal adjustment difficulties of immigrant groups who essentially share the same culture but perhaps speak different languages and have different customs - and Muslims.

The US used to be great on assimilating people because that was one of our objectives, and public schools, etc. were set up to encourage large numbers of poor immigrants from all over to learn English and adapt to US practices, particularly in the area of cleanliness and work habits. This changed in the 1960s to the multicultural model, where no effort was made in this direction at all, and immigrant groups were almost forced to remain separate through things like “bilingual” programs (really monolingual - their native language and not English) taught by ignorant native speakers of their native languages and efforts by the Dems to make immigrants clients of the government.

Still, most immigrants want to settle in, learn English and get ahead, and even those from cultures radically different from ours - Asians, for example - have done well over time.

The one group that will never “assimilate,” however, are Muslims. They don’t want to become part of the US or any other country in which they land; they want to take it over. The Islamic terrorists who have come out of the US and Europe are virtually all examples of people who, on the face of it, have assimilated well: they speak English, have gone to normal US schools, most have some college or even advanced degrees from schools in the US or their European country, and a lot of them are even second generation. But they still turn on their host country and try to destroy it.

Muslims want to force anyplace they are to become Islamic, and there is no way they will ever assimilate. They expect us to “assimilate” to them and they will kill us if we don’t.
