Jim Oberstar and Chip Cravaack didn’t just face each other this morning at the Duluth Entertainment Convention Center Auditorium, they faced angry mobs of their opponent’s supporters.
Just seconds into the first comments by DFLer Oberstar, Cravaack supporters began to shout the long-term incumbent down with calls of “liar’’ and “Obama Junior.’’
By the time challenger Cravaack’s turn came, Oberstar supporters responded in kind.
Moderators asked for civility and respect, but the cat calls and jeering from a nearly-full auditorium continued through most of the 90-minute forum, often drowning-out candidate’s answers over a faulty sound system that lacked volume.
Oberstar was cut short several times, and fell into responding to Cravaack supporters as they heckled him.
“You just don’t want to hear the facts. You don’t want to hear the truth,’’ Oberstar tried to say.
“You don’t know the truth,’’ a Cravaack supporter responded. . . . When the heckling on climate change grew louder, Oberstar accused the Cravaack supporters of being in the “flat earth society.’’ When he tried to rattle off statistics on warming trends, he was shouted down again with calls of “liar."

Oberstar is toast, like every BammyCare-Global Warmer.
Too bad this one wasn’t on TV. If not for his varicose veins, Oberstar would have no color at all. All these old, tired Democrat leeches should be retired on Nov. 2.
The Ruling Class better get the message through their arrogant skulls that We The People are really angry. The Sleeping Dragon is awake and ready to do battle.
I wonder what his carbon footprint is.

It was streamed on line but the sound was so terrible I gave up after 10 minutes. People there say the sound in the auditorium was awful too.
Which is odd because this is a very good auditorium that was renovated just last year. So I have no idea why the sound was so bad.
Considering Jimmy Bikeshorts decided not to hold town hall meetings last summer during the health care debate, I think it’s the first time in many a year he actually had to listen to his constituents.
And they are p***ed off.
Drudge had the story about Obie only having ONE donor that lives in his district. I wonder if she wants her $500 back?
Don’t count Oberstar out. The Minnesota Iron Range is a union hot bed and delivered the Governor’s nomination to loony Mark Dayton over the hand picked DFL candidate endorsed at the party convention.
Reminds me of the Wellstone “Funerally”, ironically, also held in Minnesooota...
Never. Oberstar has had the saftest seat in Congress for ever. Just being this close is astonishing.
Don’t count Oberstar out.
