If there was a political attack that could have been predicted, it has to be this one: national Republicans are hitting Senator Harry Reid, the majority leader from Nevada, for living at the Ritz-Carlton.
When he is in Washington, Mr. Reid lives in an apartment at the posh hotel. The optics of that would be bad for a politician at almost any time. But its especially unfortunate at a moment when Mr. Reids home state is ground zero for the housing and foreclosure crisis.
The ad, paid for by the National Republican Senatorial Committee, describes the failing economy in Nevada and shows a clip of Mr. Reid saying that he has nothing to do with the unemployment figures.
To him, its a figure, the announcer says, maybe because Harry lives at the Ritz-Carlton while thousands are losing their homes. Mr. Reids opponent, Sharron Angle, opened the door to the attack during their last debate, suggesting without providing any proof that Mr. Reid has somehow mysteriously enriched himself while serving as a senator.

On March 5, 2010, Senator Harry Reid said, “Today is a big day in America. Only 36,000 people lost their jobs today, which is really good.”

Wow.
Are they using that in any anti-Reid ad? Certainly should.
Good one.
Thanks. I will pass this along. Harry Reid is long overdue for being put out to pasture. Or better yet into prison.
Lol! Good one.
You're right. They certainly should. They could end it with something like: "Lets hope Harry Reid loses his job on Nov 2nd"
We need some research..what’s the monthly cost of Reid’s Ritz apartment..? It’s probably MORE than his net take home as a senator..
The apartments are individually owned (see post above yours). I wouldn’t be surprised if they cost $1 million and up, plus monthly (or annual) maintenance fees.
The Ritz-Carlton residents dine on cuisine prepared in their own gourmet kitchens, or served by exclusive in-home butler service from the hotels fine restaurants. All other hotel amenities, from the concierge to the business center, are available to residents as well. Consider the hotel as an extension to ones home.

If he does own it...even outright..i.e. he paid cash..( and how'd he do that? there's no mortgage..the monthly maintenance woudl have to be at least $5k..if not more..
Reid, as majority leader, makes $ 193,000..or $16k per month..after taxes and all deductions..he probably nets $9k..kind of hard to explain..
Well, according to Rush, Reid was a successful lawyer for two years. And as head of the Nevada Gambling Commission for a while he should have been able to collect lots of bribes and shakedowns.
The first thing a lawyer learns is never ask a question unless you know the answer in advance..Angle's not an atty, but she has a lot of them working on her campaign..and notice that right afer the debate, the RSCC has an ad on this ready to go..I suspect that they already know a lot more about Reid's DC living arrangement, and more shoes will continue to drop..we shall see..the fact that she thre this out at the end of the debate..right out of the blue..you know she was prepped and prepared for this..did you notice, at the end..during his close..when he was flustered and couldn't find his notes..lost his train of thought...I wonder if it was because of the question about where he lives..he knows that he's dirty..
Living in the Ritz is bad enough, but the real scandal is Reid’s Searchlight home which was built by shady developer Jim Rhodes. Rhodes also employed bribery convicted Commissioner Erin Kenny for $16,000 a month (erin was Reid’s protege). Reid was trying to develop his 250 acres ofg land in Searchlight with Rhodes, which would have netted upwards of $25,000. That land deal would also have cut off old Searchlight.
Crookedness galore.
I forgot about the casino gig. The slimy corrupt character Dick Smothers played in the movie “Casino” was based on Reid. He took bribes in the movie.
