Obama pleads with Democrats in Ohio, warns against GOP gains
By the CNN Wire Staff

Columbus, Ohio (CNN) -- President Obama pleaded with Democratic voters to keep hope alive and warned about Republicans making congressional gains in an Ohio speech Sunday that comes just weeks before the midterm elections.

"Everybody said, 'No you can't' and in 2008 you showed them, 'Yes we can,' " Obama told tens of thousands of supporters at Ohio State University in Columbus. "In two weeks, you have the chance to say once again, 'Yes we can.'"

Obama repeatedly urged the crowd to try to recreate the aura of 2008, when he rode a Democratic wave into the White House and his party gained seats on Capitol Hill.

Striking a populist tone, Obama said such policies would favor powerful corporations over middle-class Americans. Republican gains would lead to rollbacks in federal health care and education assistance, he said, while wealthy Americans would reap tax cuts and big companies would enjoy lighter regulation.

"They'll tell you its the ownership society, but basically it's 'You're on your own,'" Obama said, at what was officially a Democratic National Committee rally. "If you lose your job, you're on your own. If your child doesn't have health care, tough luck, you're on your own."

"This is the same theory they have been peddling for years and it's up to you to tell them we do not want what they are selling," Obama said later. "We've been there before and we're not going back."

I guess he does not "get" the entire "We the people" thing...does he? People help people, that is not government's job to "play god". And yes, we can take care of ourselves... we have God.

Actually Barack, much of what you hear Republicans say these days was also said by JFK. In truth, the socialist/communist drivel you are spouting is not only an old theory, but one that has been disproved over and over again.

0bama has gone to NE Ohio IIRC more than any other place.

NE Ohio is famous in voting circles for 1) the voting dead; 2) not being able to get enough voting dead ballots for Kerry in 2004; and 3) public election fraud trials from 2008.

With all the people who have moved away from NE Ohio, I wonder how many people are on the voting rolls. Cleveland is now classified as a city that will never recover/a ‘dead’ city—by an MIT study no less. Too bad. It used to be interesting. http://www.city-data.com/forum/cleveland/1068655-mit-declares-cleveland-fubar.html

Very true and another stabbing death by the way in the flats this weekend. You couldn’t pay me to go down there....Democrats running it into the ground. Corruption at every turn.

But, I’ll volunteer my time to get to the call center and dial up a victory...I’m sick of this crap.

The Upper Arlington Progressive group boasts that they have had requests 2:1 for absentee ballots.
Beware!
It’s not who ‘casts’ the votes...
It’s who counts the votes!
Jennifer Brunner-D (OH SOS) did that job in 2008.

I wonder if he realized that most of the kids in the crowd were away from their home districts and probably didn’t think to file for an absentee ballot?

In the Buckeye State, Democratic Gov. Ted Strickland -- who spoke before Obama on Sunday -- is locked in a tight re-election race with former Rep. John Kasich, a Republican.

And in Mansfield a self-destructive, egotistical, pseudo-"Tea Party" leader is telling her little band of followers NOT to vote for Kasich (in other words, VOTE for Strickland).

Will conservatives NEVER learn???

On a brighter note, things are looking good here in the Buckeye state. May ego-driven anti-conservatives fall by the wayside and the good guys win.

We need Strickland to be gone, and Kasich to take the reins and bring our state back.
