Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and his Republican challenger Sharron Angle remain locked in a tight race for the U.S. Senate in Nevada in the first survey following last Thursday nights debate.
A new Rasmussen Reports telephone survey of Likely Voters in the state finds Angle with 50% to Reids 47%. Two percent (2%) prefer another candidate in the race, and one percent (1%) are undecided. (To see question wording, click here.)
The race remains a Toss-Up in the Rasmussen Reports Election 2010 Senate Balance of Power rankings.
A week ago, Angle held an insignificant 49% to 48% lead in a contest that has been marked for months by its closeness. In seven of eight surveys prior to this one since July, Reid and Angle have been three points apart or less. Both have hit the 50% mark one time.

The survey of 750 Likely Voters in Nevada was conducted on October 17, 2010 by Rasmussen Reports. The margin of sampling error is +/- 4 percentage points with a 95% level of confidence. Field work for all Rasmussen Reports surveys is conducted by Pulse Opinion Research, LLC. See methodology.
How do Nevada voters rate debates? Which candidate's favorability numbers are up a bit? How is President Obama regarded these days in Nevada? Become a Platinum member and find out.
Quite likely to continue trending up. The debate helped, which means voters will continue to swing as they talk with friends. Also, the 50% threshold is psychologically significant. It’s not over until it’s over, but this is VERY good news.
I think so, too. If that debate can be compared to a boxing match, Sharron absorbed the small peppering jabs and each time moved in to land a damaging combination... every time.
"Man up, Harry!!"
Probably a lot higher.
Dear God, please. Reid needs to go.
My sentiments exactly.
Amen!
I was really surprised Reid was so timid in the debate. I thought for sure he’d go scorched earth. But he didn’t even so much as strike a match. I wish Angle had hit Reid harder on his lies like claiming the Clinton admin. didn’t use SS funds to cover the size of the deficit—of course they did, all presidents do. Or his claim that Clinton had a $7 trillion surplus which is the delusion of an addled, senile old man. And of course his pretending he and Gen. Patraeus are great friends and that the 2 of them together developed the Surge strategy was beyond laughable. But overall she did well.
If you know anyone in Nevada, this is the time to reach out.
It is nice to see the leader of the senate majority, the leader of the 100 most powerful people on earth, being bitch (female dog) slapped by a know nothing stupid weak moonbat (sarc) like Mz Angle.
His 30 seconds to find his closing notes that said Bush’ Fault didn’t help.
Pray for Nevada
But the poll result is about as good as could have been expected. For once, I'll be interested to see the results of the next CNN/Time poll - but it seems like they'll do their final round of polling Next weekend.
Wonderful news! Thanks for posting.
But but but but ... didn’t we all agree that the NV voters were insane to choose Angle in the primary? Didn’t that guarantee a win for Reid because Angle is so extreme (stupid) (crazy) (unelectable) (etc.)?
What happened?
WTF?
Insurance companies are among the nations largest employers (jobs Harry - you dunce) and the average profit margin across the industry is in the single digits.
Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi, and Barack Obama are the ones that have almost destroyed the US economy with obscene wasteful spending, not our nation's largest employers.
I use to work for Yankelovich Partners who once did the CNN/Time Poll before Harris Interactive took over Yankelovich. Granted it’s been over 10 years ago, but I can tell you their polling is pure sewage and that you’re wasting your time reading a Time/CNN poll. They don’t balance their demographics to get a representative sample based on party I.D. and often over-poll Democrats as a result. My boss who was a raging Dem. didn’t care either that his polls were therefore inaccurate. He was let go long ago for sexual harrassment and racial comments to a black employee. But I doubt things have changed much.
I know from experience you are unlikely to change the minds of those who you correctly fear will be angered if you state a preference for conservative politicians. My mother voted for that nice man ,Jimmy Carter(shudder);mostly because he was a Southern Baptist,I think. My current boss believe only Big Media has the real news, and he is terrified to "offend" anyone other than white, male conservative Americans.
Here's hoping that 1% and more ALSO vote for Angle.
I wish the goofy 1% of Hoosiers that voted for a third party in 2008 could understand just how they handed the Presidency to the bigger of the two evils.
