Think you know Sarah Palin? The former Alaska governor has been in the spotlight ever since John McCain named her as his running mate on Aug. 29, 2008. Yet, while practically everybody has an opinion about Palin, not all of those opinions are grounded in reality. Many of them are based more on a "Saturday Night Live" caricature than on the living, breathing, 46-year-old mother of five. The real Sarah Palin is a complex woman who has risen in no time from obscurity to the stratosphere of American politics, fusing celebrity and populism in novel ways. Now that she's laying the foundation for a possible presidential run in 2012, it's worth taking a moment to separate the fact about Palin from the fable.

She killed the Gravina Island bridge 7 months into her term and reduced state earmark requests by 80% during her tenure. End of story.

Well, the excerpt and the article link both say (and lead to) the WP. Perhaps somewhere in the small print they say something about the Weekly Standard, but "I" didn't see it.

So what. She killed it when she realized it was a gigantic boondoggle. End of story.
No. She killed it when she got into office, found out that the costs had ballooned to $398 million and discovered that Murkowski had already diverted all but $36 million of the $223 million to other projects. She wasn't going to waste one more penny on this boondoggle.

As things stand I’d have to say you’re right, but if sanity and adulthood really are coming back into vogue, then the childishness of the WaPo is going to stand out like a bawling baby on the middle of your nice white shag rug. Not a pretty picture and one which will be quite embarrassing.
I would think they might well be getting ready to have to write actual stories drawn from actual data with defendable conclusions and not just repeat slangs and slander from their Dem co-conspirators. After all, there aren’t going to be that many Dem co-conspirators to kick around after Nov 2nd, no?

So she was for the Bridge to Nowhere and willing to commit state funds on top of the $223 million provided by the federal government?
Reading is fundamental. What part of "ballooning costs" and Murkowski diverting already-received money don't you understand?
She got into office, found out the project was a giant boondoggle and killed it. Let it go, man
One more time... she was for the Bridge to Nowhere when $223 million was funded by the federal government and she was willing to spend more state funds to complete it before she was against it? And $223 million plus state funds for the Bridge to Nowhere is not a boondoggle right?
(1) There was NEVER any specific earmark for the Bridge to Nowhere, even under the Murkowski administration. The original earmark request caused too much bad publicity in 2005 BUT Congress appropriated the money ($223 million) anyway "FOR OTHER PURPOSES." Murkowski set aside a small portion of the money for the bridge and continued to lobby for more. Palin agreed with him during the campaign that Ketchikan needed improved transportation to the airport on Gravina Island. She supported the bridge with the info at hand.
(2) When she got into office and found out the project costs had skyrocketed (to $398 million) and most of the money already appropriated had been spent elsewhere before she got into office, she (a) deleted all state money from her first budget in the spring of 2007 and (b) officially killed the project at the end of the summer.
Spew your bilge somewhere else. I'm done unless you have something new to add other than some campaign rhetoric. I'm aware she supported the bridge concept with the knowledge she had when she was running for governor. Tell me something I DON'T know.
