He’s way overgunned for elves. Personally, I prefer a .243 or smaller. Save the 12 gauge for the bigger stuff, like goblins or ghouls. You can take fairies at 100+ yards with a .22 mag. Not much meat on ‘em though.

A 12 gage was originally defined by a sphere of lead weighing 1/12 of a pound. Therefor a .12 (decimal twelve) gage would be defined by a sphere of lead weighing eight pounds. Definately high powered.

Yeah, I’d think a .12 ga would be classified as “powerful.”
.12 ga -> ~3.387 cal
