Council Speaker Christine Quinn defended the legislation, saying the common design of water fountains do not meet the current needs of water conservation and consumption.

I’m glad that simple minded have such important things to vote for while they are in office.

The trouble is, it affects those of us who have brains and can create things.

Very soon, these idiots will have to travel in armored cars to get from A to B. Because we’ll be waiting for them.

The newest toilet in my home is a 1919 model (1996 house).

One flush always does the job.

Ya, Baby! Ya!

There are days when I wonder if the politicians are actually this stupid or if they’re just yanking our chain. Then I look at the corruption, the tax code, the mountains of regulations, their public pronouncements, and the horrific debt they’ve strapped us with at every level and I realize that yes they really are stupid and some are just plain evil.

Simple solution: build a nuke power plant. During daytime peak use, it provides power to the city, during the evening lows, it desalinates from the Atlantic. This will give the people plenty of time to perform whatever water saving measures they individually wish to do.

...allow users to choose between a high pressure flush for solid waste, and a low-pressure flush for liquid.

Now for the real reason: The dual flush modes will be hooked up to police stations (or camera’s in a previous post) and will relay information on those who violate the low pressure for liquids and use the high pressure flush instead and fines will be imposed.

I didn’t see where it said that existing toilets had to be changed?

Next the toilets will have a little scale thing to catch the solid waste, weigh it, and calculate how much water should be sent in the flush. It will save some water, but your new toilets (which will be required by law, mandatory you have to buy them - it’s in the Commerce Clause, doncha know?) will cost $40,000 each for all the technology. A plumber’s base trip charge will go to $2,000....

Believe it or not, it is actually not easy to take a water bottle and refill it ... said Council Speaker Christine Quinn
First, people are so helpless these days I almost agree with her.
Second, bottled water is little more than a pacifier; a replacement for the hand to mouth habit once occupied by smoking.

"new toilets will have to be high water efficient or 'dual-flush,' which allow users to choose between a high pressure flush for solid waste, and a low-pressure flush for liquid..."

...and to have built-in video cameras so that government agents can see who's choosing the wrong flush....

...and take appropriate punitive action.

There go those da*n liberal bureaucrats -- dictating technology again!

Next thing we know they will be dictating microstamps on guns or mucking with light bulbs...

In the immortal words of mSkerry, the ketchup woman: tell Rosie O'redhead there to "shove it!"...

What happens if you choose the wrong “flush”? Is another agency going to be created to be sure the people are using the right “flush”? This is so silly.

A people whose government dictates what kind of toilets they can have (and what kind of light bulbs they can use) are NO LONGER FREE.
