White House Insiders Feel Shellshocked, And Already Think It's Over For Obama

The talk of the town for the next few days will be this big piece by Peter Baker in the NYT on President Obama. The piece paints a picture of a despondent administration:
Yet even if the White House saw it coming, this is an administration that feels shellshocked. Many officials worry, they say, that the best days of the Obama presidency are behind them. They talk about whether it is time to move on. While not in the 30s, Obamas approval rating in surveys conducted by The New York Times and CBS News had fallen to 45 percent last month from 62 percent when he took office just a point above where Clinton was before losing Congress in 1994 and three points above where Reagan was before the Republicans lost a couple dozen House seats in 1982.
Joel Benenson, Obamas pollster, pointed out that even at 45 percent, the presidents popularity eclipses that of Congress, the news media, the banks and other forces in American life. We are in a time when the American public is highly suspect of any institution, he said, and President Obama still stands above that. Obamas team takes pride that he has fulfilled three of the five major promises he laid out as pillars of his new foundation in an April 2009 speech at Georgetown University health care, education reform and financial reregulation. And they point to decisions to end the combat mission in Iraq while escalating the war in Afghanistan. History will judge Obama that the first two years were very productive, Rouse says.

I see these stories (including the one about MO’s Blowup) as trying to create sympathy for Obama.
The liberals are trying to rally around a lost cause......keep firing!!!!!
Despondent? When has any setback ever stalled a leftist true believer administration?
Anyone thinking that they will just sit back saying, “Well, we are done” hasn’t looked at the history of the left. They will redouble their efforts and just get more vile but hidden in their plans.
“This seems to be a puff piece masquerading as a hit piece.”
Yup. Let’s not start looking ahead to 2012, when 2010 and surprises and hits from the blind side and recounts and all the dead voters are alive and well.
Patriotic Americans Not Part Of The Parasitic/Moocher/Insider Class KNOW It's Over For Obama
There, all fixed.
That was the best? Hate to see the worst.
“History will judge Obama that the first two years were very productive”.....
For third world socialism!
To generate the proper look of shock and horror on a leftists face, memorize this phrase:
“that’s what you get for supporting a narcissistic Marxist with a huge racist chip on his shoulder”
He is going out of the country right after the election. If the conservatives have a large enough victory in November, will he ever come back?
Y’all, get out and vote!
Hopefully the upcoming election will leave them even more shell shocked and start a mass exodus from DC back to the Blue States/Hell Hole cities like NY City/Chicago.
The white house insiders all hitched their wagon to an empty hollow man with no experience of any kind except street agitating. Now they are concerned?
Obama’s 45% is skewed, and propped up solely from the monolithic (95%) support of blacks.
If blacks supported Obama like they did Clinton (still high but low/mid-80s), he’d be in the high 30s. And if blacks supported him like they did Reagan (low 20s) he’d be in the teens.
One of the replies from “me” in NYC:
“I see. So the Republicans never put forward a serious proposal, but Obama should have let the Republicans insist on the tax cuts in the stimulus package. Isn’t that a contradiction in terms?
Perhaps this is a case of the Emperor Has No Clothes. Obama sees only the flaws of others, but not his own until he finds himself facing an avalanche - where he is still trying to manipulate the majority of the population by saying that the Party of No (such a catchy and empty phrase) will have no choice but to listen to him whichever way the cookie crumbles.
I thought that was his theory upon winning a landslide in the last election. Isn’t he even quoted telling a group of Republicans - I won and you didn’t, so it goes this way....- on a number of issues.
My strongest memory of the past two years from my morning read of the Times is the action verbs in your Obama headlines. I suggest a Tufte Cloud map of words - wouldn’t that be fascinating? Push, shove, insist, muscle, force, got though, etc.
I hope one of these mornings, I awake to see it as it will clearly demonstrate the force used in this Presidency by someone whose words and actions never match. And yes, I am a registered Democrat and have never been a Republican - but consider myself ‘leaning’ independent.”
The rats are turning on him quickly...
That's what makes it so interesting. This is the best case Baker can make for Obama, and it's not very helpful.
More cynical readers (i.e., people like us) can see in the various quotes and excuses, a continuing pig-headedness among the Obama team. It's not their fault, they're right, they just didn't spin things the right way, and so on.
That's the stuff of hubris.
Obama could go the Clinton route, and try to triangulate himself to a second term. Or, he could tighten the inner circle and proceed as before -- which is what narcissists do.
We'll have to see what happens after the election. I'm guessing he'll go the narcissist route: circle the wagons, rely on an increasingly tight inner circle, and finally bow out (or be kicked out) after 4 years.
We still have idiots out there that believe in the one. Ran into one of them yesterday on the job.
The good thing? Everyone around us came uncorked when he tried to defend the socialist.
