Wow.. Sen. Tom Coburn just figured that out?
And let's be honest here, folks . . . the primary motive here isn't necessarily "government control" of health care. The primary objective of any and all variations of "health care reform" in this country over the last 20+ years has been the removal of medical insurance costs from the operating expense sheets of every major U.S. employer that now offers this coverage to their employees.
This is why -- despite all of the political posturing on the part of the GOP in recent months regarding "ObamaCare" -- this health care reform is a heavily bi-partisan effort.
This is an excellent point, but it needs some further comment to explain why "contract law" doesn't necessarily apply well in the case of medical insurance.
As per your description, a medical insurance policy is a "contract" between an insurer and an insuree that provides for terms of payment for some other largely unspecified "contract" between the insuree and one or more medical professionals. In other words, there is already a third party in the U.S. health care system: the insurer.
Having this "third party" system in place -- regardless of whether the third party is a private insurer or a government agency -- is what makes our entire health care system fatally flawed. An economic transaction where a buyer (a patient) and a seller (a medical professional) conduct business between themselves while a third party ends up paying the bills is doomed to fail. And it has.
I have to ask - my memory appears to be failing me - “yitbos”?
BINGO !!!!!
Why do you think obambi gutted Medicare? My quilt guild meets at the community center where commodity hand outs are done, over the past 2 years I’ve seen more and more frail seniors, and I ask the lady handing out the commodities and she says they have about tripled the number. All look as if the life had been sucked out of them.
Email the list, print the list, hand it out, print the first one for seniors who are not online. Use the AMMO the enemy gave us.

Yes indeed. Most socialized systems eventually have a two tiered system. Good care for those with clout and death-care for those on the bottom. AND- if you don't have clout be prepared to pay bribes to get any decent care.
