Coburn: Private health insurance may end soon

Private health insurance in the U.S. will be dead in three years, U.S. Sen. Tom Coburn said Tuesday.

"There will be no insurance industry left in three years," Coburn told the Republican Women's Club of Tulsa County.

"That is by design. You’re going to make insurance unaffordable for everyone -- which is what they want. Because if there’s no private insurance left, what’s left? Government-centered, government-run, single-payer health care.”

Coburn apparently based his prediction on reported hikes in private insurance premiums, increases he attributed to the new law.

Some insurers say they have raised premiums because of new mandates, including requirements they cover pre-existing conditions and allow parents to keep children on their policies up to age 26.

Tell us something we don't know. If the Republican Women's Club of Tulsa has to be told this at this late date I'm not sure if we will ever get out this mess.

Why should anyone be surprised. Anyone who researched Bambro, listened to his interviews from years ago, knew this was the plan all along. Wonder why Buddy Bill is begging for the next two years to give the demonrats a chance? Because at the end of Bambro’s term they win and we lose for good.

Health insurers have known this since the legislation was proposed.

They're all looking for jobs.

If the new Tea Party majority cannot end this threat to our freedom and liberty then you’re right. I pray all of the prayers & money we send will bear fruit.

The amazing thing is that if you read the comments, there are people who STILL don’t get it.

I just can’t understand how that is possible

A lot of Americans are not sheep; they won’t ‘baa’ their way to the nearest Death Panel Bureaucrat. A lot of Americans are already severely pissed off at the Feds, so instead of submitting to Dark Lord Obama, an underground black market will spread like wildfire. And the Feds will be scratching their pointy heads, wondering why there’s no private insurance left, but nobody is signing up for ObamaCare.

It would be cheaper to pay the IRS penalty and head to the underground market.

If we go to single payor they will just take the money directly from either your paycheck or your taxes at the end of the year. They dont care about health care per say it is all about confiscating your money thereby taking away your liberty. I despise the politicans and I hope they reap what they sow they are evil and I despise the people who voted for Obama

I’m sure this wasn’t news to most of these ladies, but they were glad to hear that a candidate they could vote for thought so.

Seems to me that there will have to be some kind of market to provide for the elites, Congress and other groups exempt from ObamaCare...i.e., the Unions.

Here’s the big problem. Private insurance will go bankrupt, but there is no federal healthcare to replace it. Imagine one big cluster - F coming down the road.

This of course was the endgame all along. But certainly there are many beyond this forum who did not realize it, for how come the "Republicans" who did indeed oppose it unanimously, not loudly declare this endgame from the start? How come they did not say this outright?

From the first we clarified the logic (and dignity) of an agreed contract between an insurer and an insuree. When an outside third party enters and manages the rules for its own self aggrandizement (in this case the leftist government of Pelosi, Obama, etc.) then the base agreement (the private insurance) becomes meaningless. Any contract becomes meaningless if the signing parties are rendered impotent by outside authority.

The choir here of course knows this, but where is the articulation from the "Republican" politicians (besides Coburn)? ObamaCare is blatant LEFTISM, where the conscious analytical ability of the individual is forfeited to authoritarian intervention. Where are the Republican politicians who should have articulated this?

ObamaCare and allowance of illegal immigration are among the greatest tragedies to ever befall the integrity of the United States. The wars themselves, even the ones made divisive by the Media, were never the same threat to the raison d'etre of the US - the human dignity of freedom.

Leftism, George Soros, human stupidity.
