California GOP Senate nominee Carly Fiorina is skipping a chance to appear with Sarah Palin at a major Republican National Committee fundraiser so she can campaign with Sen. John McCain instead.
Fiorina has not yet announced the Saturday campaign appearances with McCain, but a campaign source tells POLITICO that she will be spending her time on the stump with the 2008 GOP presidential nominee rather than his running mate, the former Alaska governor.
POLITICO reported last week that both Fiorina and GOP gubernatorial Meg Whitman would be skipping the RNC fundraiser in Anaheim, citing scheduling conflicts.
The RNC is heavily promoting the Oct. 16 event, which is expected to be a major haul at a critical juncture in the campaign. Tickets start at $20.10, with admission running up to $127.25. Two tickets and an opportunity to meet Palin are being sold for $950.
Palin endorsed Fiorina in the primary, shocking conservatives in California who had lined up behind state Assemblyman Chuck DeVore.
Fiorina, the former CEO of Hewlett-Packard, was one of McCains top surrogates during the 2008 campaign until she bluntly said in an interview that neither he nor Palin was qualified to lead a major corporation.
Big mistake, although Palin herself chose McCain over JD Hayworth
Now she’s gonna get a testy email from Todd.
the media is obsessed in showing that everyone don’t really like Palin. Look look, this guy didn’t attend Palin’s birthday party. Must be some friction there
Makes sense to me, she is in the closing weeks of a California Senate race against Barbara Boxer.
No, I'm not gonna say it.
We just need to get rid of Boxer, thats all.
If that is just her campaign answer and not her final answer, then, OK.
iCarly strikes again
OK folks. She’s finally raised the flag showing her true colors — the one with the RINO design in the center!
I guess the only thing that’s gonna save the rest of us from California and California voters and political hacks out there is a 1.0 on the Richter Scale.
Why is it a mistake?
There are parts of the country that are closed to the conservative message.
California is one of them. Palin is a net negative in California, and I assume Whitman, McCain, and Palin all know it.
Not sure about it being a mistake. While Palin would be the better choice in the primaries, McCain might be a better choice for winning a few over from the other side. IMO
I saw Fiorina on TV the other night. I know she’s running as a Fortune 500 CEO, but I think they should try to soften up her image a bit. She comes across as, I don’t want to say cold, but very cool.
They’re working overtime to drive division within Republican ranks. Palin also stumped with McCain just a few months ago.
Probably a good move over there on the Left coast.
She should campaign rather than fundraise at this time.
Al Gore registers a 1.0 on the Richter Scale when he farts ... so I don't think that's going to fix things.
Oh so she’s bashed if she does and she’s bashed if she doesn’t...wow.
I don’t care - Babs has got to go!
Surely the media would like everyone to believe that.
But I'm not so certain, and face it, we haven't had a chance to find out since Bruce Herschenson.
And he damn near won in 92, would've too, if not for Boxer's slimey campaign tricks.
Ironic, coming from the woman who almost destroyed HP.
