I agree the cable should have an external attachment.

The cable attachment has to be internal so that in case it is trapped by a rock GOING UP the internal catchment can be released allowing the capsule to return to the bottom ~ otherwise it’d just be stuck in the tunnel and they’d need to drill another one.
