ripped up a lithograph

I may not understand the complexities of lithography, but isn't this essentially similar as ripping apart a poster of the Mona Lisa? Unless the original printing source was destroyed, can't the "artist" just make another one?

Hydra indeed. It’s a lithograph. One of maybe several hundred such.

The same constitutional prohibition on establishment of a state religion prohibits state established mockery and criticism of religions.

Wonderful. Now every time some Islamic hacks off a head or blows up a 5000 year old Buddha statue, apologists are going to point to this woman and say “See, they’re the same, Christians are just as crazy”

Luke 22 (New International Version)

36He said to them, “But now if you have a purse, take it, and also a bag; and if you don’t have a sword, sell your cloak and buy one. 37It is written: ‘And he was numbered with the transgressors’[b]; and I tell you that this must be fulfilled in me. Yes, what is written about me is reaching its fulfillment.”

38The disciples said, “See, Lord, here are two swords.”
“That is enough,” he replied.

LUKE 12 (NIV)

Not Peace but Division
49”I have come to bring fire on the earth, and how I wish it were already kindled! 50But I have a baptism to undergo, and how distressed I am until it is completed! 51Do you think I came to bring peace on earth? No, I tell you, but division. 52From now on there will be five in one family divided against each other, three against two and two against three. 53They will be divided, father against son and son against father, mother against daughter and daughter against mother, mother-in-law against daughter-in-law and daughter-in-law against mother-in-law.”

What a childish, idiotic, self-defeating way to get one's point across. Instead of making opponents think about the implications of state-sponsored attacks on a religion, she has them accusing our side of censorship, intolerance and anger management issues. If this public building were to display a taxpayer-funded work glorifying Jesus, would you all cheer for a non-Christian exercising his or her "right" to destroy it?

Yes, the original painting of this so-called artist can be used to make further copies.

Basically, yes. However, lithography tends to deteriorate over time as more prints which are run. That's why "artists" generally sell them in limited, numbered editions.

In these case, however, I would bet there was no intention to sell numbered lithographs, just be provocative.

Like temple prostitution of old, such wickedness is supposedly sanctified by its context.

I don’t think anyone has asserted a “right” to destroy this trash. We just like her guts.

And the Stanford professor who created this art print on the public dime is “just as crazy” as the Floriduh preacher who proposed burning a privately owned koran.

The President, Secretary of State, FBI (and IRS?) came down on him “persuading” him not to.

One of these things is not like the other, not like the other, not like the other...

I disagree with what this woman has done. God is perfectly capable of defending his own name, and He will get the last laugh, on the day of judgement, with those who produced and promoted this travesty. Destroying this work does not advance the kingdom of God, in my opinion.

If we Christians responded to smears to the Son of God like this every time it happened, we would have fewer pricks that would insult Christianity.
