Had a wonderful day in the Golden State, starting with a great gathering of patriots in Bakersfield and ending with a gathering of Americas finest in San Diego at an event for Combat Veterans For Congress.
These candidates embody the integrity and courage we need in our leadership in D.C. Theyve already taken the oath to support and defend our Constitution, and there is no statute of limitations on that oath. It was a great honor to meet so many of them last night and to offer my thanks in person for their willingness to once again answer our countrys call to service.

They’re endorsing Kirk? Obviously the only criteria is veteran status and an ‘R’ after their name.
How can any veteran fail to support a patriot like West--a man who understands and articulates America's founding ideas, a proven leader of men and women who loves the Constitution's limits on government's coercive power, and who has such a broad and deep understanding of the history and philosophy of our enemies in the world?
All lovers of liberty should expose the VFW's failure to support West.
Unfortunately, prior military experience is a poor predictor of a candidate’s future performance once elected to political office.
What are you talking about?
Lt. Col. Allen West is one of the endorsements.
...but being a lawyer is a fairly good predictor of performance. Typically bad performance.
Give me a soldier, sailor, airman or marine any day over another freakin’ lawyer.
Hear! Hear!
I think that applies when they’re democrats.
True, but not particularly relevant. Do you understand why it is not particularly relevant?
Gerald Ford, Bob Dole, George W. Bush, George H. W. Bush, Richard Nixon, Ronald Reagan, John McCain ...
The best of the lot (politically) had the least military experience, the worst of the lot (politically) had the most military experience.
JFK, John Glenn, John Kerry, Joe Seztac, and lastly that horrid congressman from PA whose name mercifully escapes me that recently died.
“..that horrid congressman from PA whose name mercifully escapes me ...”
That would be John Murtha.
One of my goals was to outlive him.
This, I have accomplished.
That would be murtha, the ex-marine.
I'll note that John Glenn's service in WWII, and then in NASA, was exemplary.
Then he became a 'Rat.
However, Bob Dole's service in WWII was also exemplary. Then he became a RINO.
I'll leave discussion of McCain for another day.
It appears that they are. See:

Pretty disheartening
Right. There’s several on their list I really want to win.
Others.... not so much. I’ll leave it at that.
I don't want to hear "Vote for Smith, he's a veteran". Likewise, I'm not particularly interested in "Vote for Smith, he's a (businessman|physician|lawyer|actor|preacher|whatever)". Unfortunately, those things really don't tell me much about how Smith will perform, if elected.
I want to hear "Vote for Smith, he believes in X, Y, and Z". The personal stuff might lend some credence to his claims on issues, but the issues are paramount.
I can only stick with the subject of this thread. That’s what threw me with the other post. The COMBAT VETERANS didn’t endorse Lt. Col. Allen West’s opponent.
I have NO IDEA why the folks at the VFW would. It makes no sense AT ALL.
I completely agree...However all to often we don’t get the truth from pols what they beleive...The more background, the more information we have to decide the better....
And we have enough lawyers in politics, and not enough servicemen and servicewomen.
