Sarah Palin sure has some fair-weather friends. In Alaska, when Joe Miller was still a nobody, Palin's endorsement put him on the map and pushed him to a primary victory over incumbent senator Lisa Murkowski. Now it's the general election, and Miller has to appeal to a broader audience than the GOP diehards who vote in primaries. So when he was asked point-blank this week whether Palin is qualified to be president, he merely acknowledged that she's constitutionally eligible.
In Delaware, Palin endorsed Christine O'Donnell five days before her primary bid against well-respected Mike Castle, who was widely seen as the favorite to win. But now O'Donnell needs to steal moderates away from Democrat Chris Coons to have any chance at another upset in November. So when O'Donnell was asked on CNN last night whether Palin is qualified to be president, she replied, "Is she running for president? Again, hypothetical."

1. understands and is committed to the principles underlying America's Constitutional protections for liberty;
2. has real-world executive experience in some area of expertise;
3. is a person of character and ability to motivate and encourage the best instincts of fellow citizens toward individual liberty and independence.
4. is a person whose record of development and achievement can be examined by all citizens.
Clearly, by the nomination and election of the current president, the Democrats do not measure their potential candidates by a similar set of standards.
The question is: whose "qualifications" is the author examining.
Thomas Jefferson, one of our truly great Presidents, wished that citizens examine his record in order to form their opinions of him, rather than the praise or criticism of the press. A candidate who aspires to be President might follow Jefferson's example.

It's not experience that counts the most but demeanor and ability to learn...a savvy nature and a streak of stubbornness and independence.
Sarah has got these qualities in spades.
Just a question: you say the msm doesn’t care (about Sarah running for president?) but it seems to me that they are absolutely OBSESSED with it. When I tune into MSNBC on occasion (after taking an antacid) that’s all they ever talk about. Maybe I misunderstood you, lol.

I guess I am swimming upstream here at FR, but Sarah Palin is not really a POTUS candidate to me.
But the point of the article, seems to be is she qualified for POTUS? I used to be very well read on the Constitution etc., but not so much right now but as far as I can recall she is qualified to be POTUS, esp more so than Obama has demonstrated himself to be or he would not have to hide so much about himself.
She absolutely mesmerizes me. I’m in the theatre and have a very good eye for star quality. Although I will get beaten up for this, I will go so far as to say she has qualities that remind me of the best of Diana, the Princess of Wales (I said the BEST, not the worst!) Her charisma is that strong.
She’s also - unlike the poor Diana - extremely wise and mature.
No one wants to say Obama isn’t.
Indeed her logic drives the socialists nuts the only thing they can do is call her names and have no answers about the issues.
What Miller and O'Donnell should have said:
Yes she's qualified enough where I would consider her as a canidate.
One can say all those things accurately without endorsing her or any candidate at this point in time.
If either Miller or O'Donnell can't say those things, then they fall short of what I thought they were.
Seriously.
Certainly more so than our current president.
It is strange...on their part, and it is worth pointing out.
It's something numerous RINOs have done.

She’s qualified. And never mind Teh Awesome in the White House, I’m trying to understand how somebody can look at her and the prospective Republican/conservative field and say they’re qualified and she’s not. They’re fine candidates, most of them, but that much better than her? I’m sorry, I don’t see it.
All Miller and O’Donnell had to do was answer: “Political candidates and the media elite don’t decide who is ‘eligible’. That’s the judgment call of the American people.”
And apparently 48% of the electorate were comfortable with her being Vice President in 2008. I wager that has increased quite a bit since then.
