Four men were arrested Thursday for hunting illegally in Kelly Canyon, southeast of Spanish Fork.
According to a police affidavit, a Utah Division of Wildlife Resources contacted two men in a vehicle Thursday morning in the canyon. The men reportedly had two shotguns and a muzzleloader, and the officer asked them if they had a deer tag to hunt in the area, as he had previously heard a shot.
The men, Albertico Salazar Betancourt and Alberto Vergara, allegedly said the shot was probably from their friends, who had tags and were hunting deer on the hill.
The officer left and observed the vehicle soon leave with two other men in the rear seat, according to the affidavit. After stopping the vehicle, the officer reportedly observed blood on Miguel Vergara's shoes and pants as he sat in the back of the vehicle. Vergara denied killing a deer, but Alejandro Ramirez, who was also in the back seat, said if he had killed a deer it would be in the trees. The officer allegedly found a knife in the car with deer hair on it and a .30-.30 rifle behind a seat.
Miguel Vergara allegedly admitted that he did not have a rifle tag for hunting the deer, but had shot and wounded a deer. He said he and Ramirez decided to leave the deer because they did not want to get caught with it.
Miguel Vergara allegedly told officers he has a visa to be in the United States, but he did not have identification with him. The other three occupants admitted being in the country illegally. Miguel Vergara was booked into the Utah County Jail on charges of wanton destruction of protected wildlife and being an illegal alien in possession of a firearm. The other three men were booked on charges of being an illegal alien in possession of a firearm and aiding and assisting in the wanton destruction of protected wildlife. All four are being held on a $5,000 cash bail and an immigration hold.
Another strange one:
Sign Reads, "Dead Body, Water", Leads to Body in Water Comments 0 October 08, 2010 10:56 AM
BREWSTER, Wash. (AP) - A sign written in Spanish led two people to the body of a Tonasket fisherman who fell into the Columbia River last month. Okanogan County Sheriff Frank Rogers tells The Wenatchee World that the two were driving on State Route 17 Wednesday between Bridgeport and Brewster when they spotted a small handwritten sign. It said, in Spanish, "Dead Body, Water" with an arrow pointing toward Washburn Island. They stopped, walked to the river and saw the body, then called police. Rogers says the body has been identified as 63-year-old Gary A. Rillera, who apparently fell out of his 10-foot boat in rough waters near Bridgeport while fishing on Sept. 4. Rogers says he has no idea why those who wrote the sign didn't contact authorities, unless they just didn't want to deal with police. (Ya think!!!)

Mexican Criminals Increasing Violence? Blame America
http://biggovernment.com/gknapp/2010/10/01/mexican-criminals-increasing-violence-blame-america/
We are a selfish nation and treating our neighbor to the south horribly. Its our fault that border violence is up.
From Fox News:
A coalition of Mexican mayors has asked the United States to stop deporting illegal immigrants who have been convicted of serious crimes in the U.S. to Mexican border cities, saying the deportations are contributing to Mexican border violence.
Ciudad Juarez Mayor Jose Reyes blamed U.S. deportation policy for contributing to his citys violence, saying that of the 80,000 people deported to Juarez in the past three years, 28,000 had U.S. criminal records including 7,000 convicted rapists and 2,000 convicted murderers.
Wait a second. This cant be true. Everyone knows that all the illegal aliens in America are law abiding people (except for that coming into the country illegally part) who just want to do the jobs Americans wont do. Hey, dont we have American rapists and murderers to do these jobs? Maybe these guys will do it for less.
More from the article:
Reyes and the other Mexican mayors said that when the U.S. deports criminals back to Mexico, it should fly them to their hometowns, not just bus them to the border.
I agree, and we should send them first class! Havent they suffered enough already through their incarceration and deportation from America without being forced to ride coach? In fact, lets go one step further and fly them to the city of their choice to find new victims a fresh start.
Sure we give Mexico money every year for the drug wars, their military, medicine, farm aid, border security, and direct monetary payments to their government, but we arent doing enough to fly their violent criminals home.
This is rich. These Mexican criminals came to America illegally. They committed violent crimes. They were convicted and served their sentences in American prisons at U.S. taxpayer expense. They were bussed to Mexico and given to Mexican immigration officials and representatives of the Mexican attorney general. The Mexican government could have returned these people to their hometowns. Yet, the Mexican border mayors say its ourfault that many of them committed new crimes in their towns and they expect the American taxpayer to pick up the tab for plane rides all over their country.
Sure. Well get right on that.
Uh, oh. It looks like we have agreed to this nonsense in at least one city:
Earlier this year, ICE suspended the removal of Mexican nationals with criminal records to Ciudad Juarez, ICE spokeswoman Virginia Kice said. In addition to dedicating unprecedented manpower, technology and infrastructure resources to the border, ICE has also collaborated with Mexico to adapt its removal procedures in response to safety considerations.
How many times have you heard from our politicians and media what a great partner Mexico is in fighting border crime? Yet, they wont even take responsibility for transporting their own violent criminals away from the border? Nice.
Yeah, just doing the hunting Americans won’t do.
Oh, I feel so, so so, so, sad!!!!! Now lets move the trash out!!!
I think there's a word or two out of place here. It should read, "Four illegals arrested for hunting."
“I think there’s a word or two out of place here. It should read, “Four illegals arrested for hunting.”
Not for long. They will be returned to the wild by the Obama Admin shortly. That’s the wilds of the U.S., not of Mexico.
Hunting what? I didn't see where the deer was located and checked.
Uhm, I think you mean Undocumented Hunters...
They were liberal Meg Whitman detractors.
Liberals are now pro SB1070.
They are lying ba*tards!
