For the second year in a row, using exclusive data developed by Dr. Andrew Schiller's team at NeighborhoodScout.com, and based on FBI data from all 17,000 local law enforcement agencies, WalletPop reveals the top 25 most dangerous neighborhoods with the highest predicted rates of violent crime in America.
1. Chicago, Ill. Neighborhood: W. Lake St. Found within ZIP code: 60612 Predicted annual violent crimes: 297 Violent crime rate (per 1,000): 257.72 My chances of becoming a victim here (in one year): 1 in

The whole report is silly. I checked out major Texas cities and found city-wide they are more dangerous those in the article. If these are the numbers for the city as a whole, imagine what the numbers are for the bad parts of town.
Rio Bravo (because Nuevo Laredo wouldn’t work) - Chance of being a victim in this city: 1 in 7
McAllen - 1 in 9
San Antonio - 1 in 9
Austin - 1 in 11
Brownsville - 1 in 11
Dallas - 1 in 11
Corpus Christi - 1 in 12
Ft. Worth - 1 in 12
Harlingen - 1 in 12
Lubbock - 1 in 13
Houston - 1 in 15
El Paso - 1 in 24
Anyone believing the numbers for El Paso? I’m not.
How can you be such a bigot?/s
Jim Quinn always says that the amount of wealth in any given area is inversely proportional to the number of democrats running it.
Blah, brain fart.
LAREDO, Texas - 1 in 7
Amazing you predicted that! I just did a Google Street View search on one of those addresses, and one of the first things that showed up was a crappy parking lot with a bunch of guys playing basketball.
Not surprised to see Memphis has 3 neighborhoods listed in the top 20.
LOL
We watch the show “The First 48” I thought they only filmed in Memphis and parts of TX.
I know this is rediculous.
What did someone do sit at a computer and just make stuff up.
The neighborhood they list is non-existent.It was public housing and still hasn’t been rebuilt.
The people around there were interviewed and said since the PH is gone they have very few problems.HUMMMMM

No, it doesn’t. Anacostia is farther northeast. Navy Yard is south of 395. I missed the South Capitol exit once and had what felt like an anxiety attack until I got back to civilization. Also: driving on East Cap years ago had to detour, got lost, ended up in one of those neighborhoods off Minnesota Avenue. A kind woman pushing a baby carriage told me when I stopped at a stop sign that it wasn’t safe for me to be there driving around by myself, and how to get back to where I needed to be. I took her advice.
You bet..
I live in Long Beach and have been to Compton, Watts, South Central and Inglewood. They are not nearly as scary as Newark or The South Bronx.
That's right...
In fact, I've been the "Over the Rhine" area of Cincinnati, OH, which appears really bad, and super run down compared to what you mentioned.
I think this story is more about violent crime. Detroit may be worse than most, but living here for 4 years I can tell you that Detroit is a more a den of thieves than a den of murderers and rapists. Keeping everything well locked up makes Detroit almost “safe”.
“a lot of the neighborhoods are near MLK Blvd.”
I have always said that if you are in a city and end up on MLK Blvd....you’re in the wrong part of town. It is absolutely true...always.
I was driving I-75 through ATL last year and sis wanted to stop. Next exit was MLK. “Hold it in sis we have a least another 10 miles to go”.
OHIO ping...
Yep.
Would it be wrong to ask how those neighborhoods vote?
Yeah and two Cleveland neighborhoods made the top 25. That’s not good. Meanwhile, society seems to turn a blind eye to the source(s) of the crime(s).
Should I take a guess maybe? ;-D
A Chattanooga TN hood is on this list? And nothing in Cali? Interesting.
Neither Chicago area highlighted would I have expected to be the worst in the city. One is right around US Cellular Field. The other (#1 on this list) not far from where I live.
You are totally wrong about Bridgeport it has been cleaned up nice and the “other side of the tracks” has been 100% better since they tore down the Robert Taylor homes. You have to go to a game sometime soon, you can always meet me and my dad we have four season tickets in the club level. The neighborhood has been transformed and it is a lot better by the United Center as well. It has turned from gang land to yuppie land.
I’m not the one saying it
http://www.neighborhoodscout.com/ is based on violent crime rights they still rank a little of that former Robert Taylor territory as bad.
“You have to go to a game sometime soon you can always meet me and my dad we have four season tickets in the club level.”
Thanks. I do have to go to a game I’ve only been once.
Unfortunately it will have to wait at least until April.
On the bright side NY took care of the Twinks again as usual. I’d love to see a Sox/Yankees playoff series.
