In what is probably the most surprising poll of this cycle so far, a joint effort by the Democratic-oriented Rossman Group and the Republican-oriented Team TelCom for the Detroit Free Press finds that 27-term Democrat John Dingell of Michigan trails his Republican opponent Rob Steele by four points, 43.8 percent to 39.5 percent.
A Dingell has represented Michigan in Congress since 1932...

The old dude is in his mid-80s.
Not to mention controlling his bladder no doubt. How old is this mummy? 135?
Liberal “Change” = voting for someone who’s been in Congress for 30 years or more...
Well?
> The NRA LOVES incumbents.
I’m a lifetime member.
:(
They are out of control and need to hear from us grass roots. We need to do a NRA house cleaning like the Republicans are experiencing.
Don’t believe this until the votes are manufactured, I mean counted.
"I'm losing? Call Chicago and get the Daley vote manufacturing machine."
Don’t get me started on the NRA and it’s fondness of rat incumbents. Makes me sick.
Dingell gets a “D” rating from the GOA.
But Dingell has one great distinction. Remember when Al Gore was running for president and kept asking Bush what he thought about the “Dingell-XXX” bill (can’t remember the other sponsor)?
Gore was oblivious to the fact that he (and the bill) sounded ridiculous and that noone in the TV audience had any idea what the Dingell-XXX bill was, except that it had a silly name. But Al Gore thought it was a decisive debating point.
How can any incumbent win with 39.5% of the vote at this point? The rule of thumb was that if the incumbent was under 50%, he was in deep trouble. Under 40% would mean he was toast.
Another poll showing Dingell in trouble. Let’s hope the final one stays at 40%.........
If you would like to be added or dropped from the Michigan ping list, please freepmail me.
Thanks, grellis!
Thanks very much for the ping/post. GRRRRRRRREAT Monday morning news!
This condescending, elitist POS needs to go home and eat his applesauce and peas. I grew up downriver...in and around Dingle’s minions. I NEVER could stand this cretin.
Hey, if the Lions can pull off a win, why not Dr. Steele?
You mentioned they who should remain nameless!
A good sign, but don't get cocky kid.......
:) Have a good day, Mr. Lakeshark!
from, kid
:-)
You have a great one too.............
*Off to take in color tour of your favorite road*
The Dingell district now does not include the city of Detroit at all. It includes Ann Arbor, Dearborn, and a bunch of small towns, exurban, and rural areas in the southeastern corner of Michigan. Still should trend Democrat normally, but maybe not this year, considering the local economy.
