CAIRO — Former U.S. President Bill Clinton said Tuesday that solving the Israeli-Palestinian conflict would take away much of the motivation for terrorism around the world.
He described the long-running conflict as the key problem in the region and said resolving it would have a knock on effect that could result in Syria ending its support for the Lebanese militant group Hezbollah and Iran turning back its controversial nuclear program.
"It will take about half the impetus in the whole world — not just the region, the whole world — for terror away," he told an audience of Egyptian businessmen from the American Chamber of Commerce in Egypt. "It would have more impact by far than anything else that could be done."

Weighing in on the controversy surrounding an Islamic Center being built in New York two blocks from the Sept. 11 attacks, Clinton suggested dedicating the proposed building to the 60 Muslim victims of the attacks.
"I think the decision to dedicate this center to the memory of those who lost their lives on that day would send a set of messages that would if not make this crisis go away, would dramatically reduce it," he said.

I would agree with this assessment if it would work, but we have been trying this for over 30 years and the Middle East does not have a desire to have peace. Until they do, we will have terror attacks and problems.
Hey ‘toon - you STILL haven’t figured it out!!! The Arabs will NEVER be satisfied until Israel is wiped off the map, and all of the Jews exterminated. All of these “peace proposals” are merely an incremental approach to that end.
We won’t stand for that.
The problem is that the Moslems have been “frisky” before 1948. Billy likely does not know about Moselm-Nazi cooperation in the before and during WWII.
The Palies and Muslims do NOT want peace.
To begin with: Neither the Palestinians nor the Syrians have any interest in ending the conflict.
Further, handing Israel over to her enemies on a silver platter would not somehow buy us the love of the Islamists.
Even Osama never mentioned the Palestinians until after they embraced him after 9/11.
No Arab country gives a damn about the Palestinians in any case, except when they become a problem, then they kill them or kick them out.

And what if Hamas could somehow be persuaded? Fatah would turn against it - just like Arafart did when peace was close in 2000. The Arab leaders of the Middle East can't afford peace with Israel because they would lose the scapegoat for which they blame their own economic failures and lack of freedom and justify their own authoritarian power.
Let’s relocate Israel to, oh, say, somewhere in Texas....give them the same amount of land.....and see what happens.....the PALI’s would be beating down the doors to get into TEXAS is MY guess....they don’t WANT PEACE...

I USED to vote democrat, as I was brought up in a family of democrats. 4 out of 5 of us have turned from them.....the only “hold-out” is a sister.....she went to Harvard.....’nuff said. She’s indoctrinated for LIFE.
Those of us that DIDN’T go to Harvard, still THINK for ourselves.
