Republican John Raese now holds a six-point lead on Democratic Governor Joe Manchin in West Virginias shockingly competitive U.S. Senate race.
The latest Rasmussen Reports telephone survey of Likely Voters in West Virginia finds Raese with 50% support, while the states highly popular governor earns just 44% of the vote. Two percent (2%) prefer some other candidate, and five percent (5%) are undecided.
These findings now move this race from a Toss-Up to Leans GOP in the Rasmussen Reports Election Senate Balance of Power rankings.
Raese, a businessman and unsuccessful Senate candidate in 2006, first edged ahead of Manchin last week 48% to 46%. The race, which initially seemed safely Manchins, now appears to be pitting the governors popularity in the state versus President Obamas unpopularity with West Virginia voters.

Yes, but he will be a Senator, not a Rep.
Rep=GOP
Thank you...my mistake.
HOwever, if he is treated like Brown was, Reid will delay his swearing in as long as possible.
I had the same pic saved on Photobucket, but they recently deleted it because it doesn’t meet their “standards” anymore.
Providing Raese pulls this out, which is looking likely, I would be so grateful to the people of KY for getting us this seat which nobody saw coming. This would be a huge win in so many ways.
This is amazing. If we could pick up the seats formerly held by Byrd and Obama and also knock off Harry Reid, we’ll have scored the ultimate political triumph.
He's decomposing.
Maybe it’s good she didn’t run. Manchin could have hit her from the right on abortion.
“Maybe its good she didnt run. Manchin could have hit her from the right on abortion.”
I read today that Manchin has decided to join the numerous other states who are suing the gubmint over Obamacare. Talk about a “hail Mary”. He only waited...ummm...6 months to make this decision. And with only a few weeks to go before the election. Couldn’t be political expediency - nah.
I thought that Manchin was suing the feds over their coal policies, not ObamaCare. Or did he sue the feds twice today?
Oops - my mistake. Thanks for catching it. It was the EPA. I misread the headline.
But...I certainly wouldn’t be surprised if he was a “johnny come lately” to the Obamacare lawsuit. Anything it takes to win. Then after he’s firmly ensconced, he would claim he it was all taken out of context.
