Wolfram proved that the threshold for complexity in this universe is very very low.
Even as things decay in enery, they continue to collide, interact and react and yes...form orderly patterns....And by things, Wolfram in particular, was not discussing particles, he was discussing systems including organisms and much higher organizations...like societies...everything from the patterns in the scales of fish to the distribution of cities and populations...
Perhaps this low threshold for complexity is what facilitates life...
Not an expert...just making conjecture. But to say blanketly that entropy is one way, ignores the interactions...
Besides, if the universe were such a simple system, I imagine all of the energy would have dissipated long ago...No, I suspect that there is more here than we can see or than we can understand.
