Republican Senate nominee Christine O'Donnell of Delaware said in a 2006 debate that China was plotting to take over America and claimed to have classified information about the country that she couldn't divulge. O'Donnell's comments came as she and two other Republican candidates debated U.S. policy on China during Delaware's 2006 Senate primary, which O'Donnell ultimately lost. She said China had a "carefully thought out and strategic plan to take over America" and accused one opponent of appeasement for suggesting that the two countries were economically dependent and should find a way to be allies.

we would not lose millions of citizens to the Chinese. We’re too far away for them to launch an effective invasion. If we fought a war it would be in the pacific on their mainland and on the surrounding islands. We might win, they might win but it would be a Pyrrhic victory either way.

In any case those bonds would be invalid the minute either side declared war which would destroy our credit rating but it wouldn’t destroy the country. It certainly would destroy the established government but we’d get by.

“[...] claimed to have classified information about the country that she couldn’t divulge.”

Obtained through non-profit groups.

That was then, they don't want it any more.

If the AP reporters could listen to the Chinese exchange student I dated last year, they would realize that COD was absolutely right.

Better millions in battle than tens of millions in "re-education" death camps.

I know it’s an election year, but this sends up huge red flags about O’Donnel. If she has classified information then she should keep quiet about it and not even allude to it. That’s why it’s classified. If she doesn’t then she has a lot of explaining to do. Either way, she’s off base.
