On Saturday, more than 300 liberal groups representing thousands of people banded together on the National Mall in an effort to outshine August’s “Restoring Honor” rally put on by Fox News Channel’s Glenn Beck.
Among the speakers was MSNBC’s Ed Schultz. “This march is about the power to the people,” said Schultz. “It is about the people standing up to the corporations. Are you ready to fight back?” As for how the crowds compared in size: GlennBeck.com includes this side-by-side image (“Restoring Honor” — left, “One Nation” — right). While the Beck rally stretched well down the National Mall, Saturday’s event was shaping up to be far smaller, with sparse groups lingering around the reflecting pool and other monuments.
On his radio show this morning, Beck said he hired his own video crews to cover the rally talking to participants and shooting other video.
Beck:
We sent photographers down and reporters down. We hired independent crews because I didn’t want to, quite honestly, put a FOX crew into that lion’s den and have anybody have to answer that they were from FOX. So, we hired — I personally hired — independent crews to go down and take photos and do interviews with people in the crowd. You’ll see them tonight.
And does it matter?
You know, this is what I told you about a year ago. I said, right now they’re all saying that they’re not communists, they’re not socialists, they’re not revolutionaries but mark my words, I said, there will come a team when they’ll just come out and say, it doesn’t matter anyway. We’re there, gang, we’re there, and the American people have to decide.

I was wondering if there would be any media there that is trustworthy. The MSM wouldn’t tell the truth regardless of how small or violent the rally became.

Excellent. I watched portions on MSNBC and CSpan trying to get a feel for the crowd. I go a distinct feel that the cameras were really avoiding pull backs and crowd shots. I did not see the beginning but I did notice that the crowd kind of entirely disappeared after about 3 PM.
The speeches were terrifyingly dull and for the most part inane. They had no solutions or rather only magical solutions.
Beck’s program should be interesting, as will John Stewart, if he dares. What did John Stewart bet O’Reilly on the size of the crowd?

This is exactly what I try to tell these liberal boobs. They just don’t get it. And even when “evil” corporations do try to get their way, guess how they get it enforced. Yep, the government. Because the corporation itself has no power to compel us to do squat. It even takes a sheriff (government) to get someone out of a foreclosed house.
If I'm not mistaken, they were discussing the rally that will take place at the end of October, not this union/communist gathering.
