I am sure that is exactly what they are. Free lunch, free bus, and probably a bit of spending money...
And knowing the type of people they attracted, I am sure most of them bitched about the lunches anyhow.

I had to think this one out...The only reason why these union pukes trashed the site to help their fellow union brothers get their jobs...If the astroturfers did clean up after themselves than the Ground Maintenance workers would have to file a grievance against them.
One type of union employee cannot do the work of another union employee. If you think I am joking, I am not, I supervised three different type of Union workers on one job and this is exactly how they operated.

Kristinn — I remember, so dearly as many of us do, the first FR rally at the Washington Memorial. (Bless you, JimRob!) I was part of the cleanup-committee, and as I recall, we had to look for things to pick up. I remember picking up cigarette butts that had been there for ages, and obviously not from our rally! Even the police mentioned that they never see such a clean place after a rally — and that was before we went looking for old butts!
Some of those piles of stuff showed that SOME people at least tried to keep discards in one spot, but the assortment of signs and other trash, that was just dropped, show a different way of thinking.
I thought that the organizers would have read about the clean areas left by the Beck rally, and would have asked their supporters to try to measure up to the same standard. But I guess it was too much to ask.

Grass roots activists spontaneously arriving in identical buses wearing identical shirts and carrying identical cardboard lunch boxes.
I think I read about a world like this when I was a kid in a book called “A Wrinkle In Time.”

....and in that last shot of the people crossing the bridge? Not ONE american flag anywhere. So where did they ditch their flags - the free flags that were handed out with their free lunches? They've got to be laying around somewhere.

I suspected this would happen. I’m waiting for a picture of the Mall.
Also, it was clear from the video on TV that turnout was not as large as Beck’s 8/28 rally. I don’t know what the difference was but there were not as many people.
