Obama's Failure of Leadership (Newsweek editorial)
Newsweek ^ | Oct. 2, 2010 | Newsweek

Posted on 10/02/2010 12:28:57 AM PDT by SmartInsight

I'm loath to admit it, but I think there's been a failure of leadership in this White House. Why else would a party on the verge of extinction less than two years ago be poised to take over one or perhaps both chambers of Congress?

The ascendancy of the right has put Democrats on the defensive. A Hoover Institution study shows that House Democrats who voted for two out of three of Obama's signature proposals (health care, the stimulus, and cap-and-trade energy policy) are likely to lose, a formula that would give the Republicans 43 seats, enough to take control of the chamber.

Dems are in full blown panic mode.

The article is quite pathetic, somehow Obama's failure is all the fault of the Republicans and it claims that Obama worked oh, so hard, to work with Republicans...

You forgot the hurl alert. One for the article, and one for the photo. After all, it’s Eleanor Clift.

BTW: Don’t bother reading the article. Here it is in a nutshell: Republicans have been partisan; Obama has been too bi-partisan. Democrats should be explaining why the bailouts and porkulus and TerriSchiavoCare are all good ideas, and if they fail to do so, they almost deserve to lose.

No, he’s leading all right. It’s just that no one with half a brain (or more) wants to follow where he wants to lead.

The article is an insane example of historical revisionist thinking. It claims the problem is that Obozo tried to get bipartisanship with Republicans. When did that ever happen? When he rammed Obamacare through on pure party lines? Same with cap-and-tax in the House? No, the problem is that Obozo is an arrogant incompetent narcissist and the American people hate everything he’s trying to do.

The reason November is going to be such an earthquake is that millions of people are saying: 'I didn't vote for bailouts, I didn't vote for amnesty, I didn't vote for union kickbacks, I didn't vote to muck up my employer sponsored healthcare, I didn't vote for unelected judges to smack down voters who want to protect their state from illegals or the fraud of same-sex 'marriage'. I voted to fix the damned economy. And they haven't done that, they've made it worse!'

When do we prosecute these Kool Aid drinking fools? I'll be damned if these traitors and tax cheats get to flip us off one last time in a lame duck session, then come slithering back as lobbyists next April.

WAKE UP AMERICA!

I don’t see anything of value in anything Eleanor Clift has to say, this is just the most recent. Barry had majorities in the house, the senate, they had the presidency, plus he had all the media cheerleading but he still couldn’t pass his wonderful agenda because of those mean old Republicans? Please.

The libs can’t grasp that Obama is leading in the wrong direction, they really think his package should be tempting.

America has rejected 0bama.
First they were in denial.
Now they are despondent.
Next, they will lash out with violence.

Thanks for the recap, Arthur; I’m trying to go back to sleep and don’t want to get too upset over what that witch Eleanor has to say!

Rush was right; pinning him as a “community organizer” right along.

“he made getting along his top priority, extending an olive branch to the other side, which Republican leaders rebuffed.”

I don’t know what planet Newsweek is on, but Barry spent the last three years taking cheap shots at Bush and countless Republicans. I don’t know why Newsweek considers this an olive branch. In fact, Barry’s most finely honed skill is taking sophmoric cheap shots. His level of maturity was most transparently visible during a campaign speech when he spoke about McCain while simultaneously scratching his cheek with his middle finger and putting on a smug grin to the cheers of his sycophants. It was clear at the time that Barry was a juvenile creep unfit for office.

I don’t think there’s been any real failure of leadership. For that to occur, there would have to be the expectation, reasonable or not, of the leader-figure being a leader. For example, if I was walking down the street and saw a dog turd, I wouldn’t have any expectation nor any justification for having any expectation that said d-turd would function as a leader.

I never saw any particular aspects of “leadership” in 0bama. He always impressed me as a street hustler whom I’d expect to be offering fake Rolexes in a city parking lot. That he could be elected to an IL congressional seat was and is a tribute to the openness of our system and our tolerance for really blatant sub-mediocrity; and certainly to a large extent, his ability to snake an election via the use of dirty tricks. That he could be elected president is testament to the gullibility of massive numbers of voters and the fact that the GOP ran a true garden slug of a candidate.

But I never saw any leadership. Street hustler, yes. Dog-turd, maybe. Leader, no way.

I wish I read your post before scanning the article.
Hard to believe drivel like this is worthy of ink let alone publishing.

“I continue to believe that the passage of universal health care is an historic achievement, and that Glenn Beck’s grandchildren will agree even if he and his followers are blind to it.”

"I don’t know what planet Newsweek is on"

That's exactly why the WaPo Company sold it to a senile 92 year-old audio pioneer Sidney Harman for a buck.
