Nine weeks since her hot launch as the host of one of the major Sunday political talk shows, Christiane Amanpour is tanking as the ratings for ABC's "This Week " have fallen dramatically to the point that the program occasionally drops to last place among the top three. "This Week," under hosts George Stephanopolous and Jake Tapper, at times hit No. 1, but usually held a strong second place in the Sunday morning talk show wars, after the perennial favorite, "Meet the Press" on NBC. But now "This Week" is winding up in third place more often than not on most Sundays. On Sunday, Sept. 19, for instance, the show not only plummeted to third place, behind "Meet the Press" and CBS's "Face the Nation," but received the lowest ratings in the 25-54 demographic in more than seven years.

Her going to ABC to anchor a prestige program was promoted for months. The hype made sense. Amanpour, as familiar a brand as there is in TV journalism, was leaving CNN and joining one of the media's most respected news programs. She was a woman, a journalist warrior, intrepid, fearless, and exotic. She was everywhere ...

There's nothing cozy about her. Seated at her table, one would not dare laugh or take a poke at a fellow guest or, least of all, at the host. Her guests change from week to week, with the possible exception of George Will, to whom she is far less deferential than her predecessors. In fact, she's not deferential at all to anyone. She's polite, attentive but hardly warm. She's not "one of the boys." And there's the rub.

You forgot their main demographic-prisoners of airport waiting roooms!
Her claim to fame was her living in the same house and being friends with JFK Jr while ar Brown. He launched her career
What people will tolerate for a one or two minute report, they might not tolerate for a full hour, panel show.
Brilliant idea!!!
although I think Britt is having fun being a commentator and not having to reign himself in as a “host”.
If Chris is bombing,(I haven’t watched TV “news” this century) then based on her CNN days before the internet(pre 96) it’s because she was an instigator not a reporter.
She has ramped up her annoying accent evidently she feels it gives her some element of gravitas ... it’s grating.
There may be something in this. It's the way she's a she: She's ungracious, unattractive, and inflexible. Downright uncomfortable, and makes everyone else uncomfortable. Not anyone's idea of a hostess. Why would you stop by? She's so thoughtless, she'd put sour milk in the tea.
So much the opposite of, say, David Brinkley, who was firmly in charge, happy with life, sharp as a tack, and an avuncular presence. As a host, I picture him cooking up barbecue, and I'll bet it would be good.
Sorry A-man-poor, I don't get it!
News Executives Continue Clueless Streak!
She’s Angelica Huston’s ugly brother ...
I thought it was because she was an Islamofascist.
But she does have man hands.
Could be genetics ;)
“She’s a DC outsider”
Well, she at least has one redeeming quality.
They’ll never admit they were wrong and the show will continue to tank.
Truth.
LMAO.
Actually the journalists are, IMHO, actually vulnerable to legal attack:then going after the Commie organizations, then taking down union leadership and finally the college Marxists. The Right to Know
"People of the same trade seldom meet together even for merriment and diversion, but the conversation ends in a conspiracy against the public or some contrivance to raise prices." - Adam SmithThat dictum of Smith's is usually cited as an attack on monopolistic business practice - but it is also directly, explicitly, applicable to labor unions.
***I think Britt is having fun being a commentator and not having to reign himself in as a host.***
You know, there’s nothing that would preclude Britt from having a commentary section on his show. As ‘producer’, I would demand it!!
Three soldiers I know who never met until 2007 had experience with her in Iraq. At different times, place, and units, each were on protection details with her. All said that she was a primadonna/diva and very hard to deal with and in one case let her camera man get the mix while she stayed with the hummers and drank the last of the patrols water (it was about 120F in the shade). None of the guys liked her and all three were laughing at their shared bad experiences with her.
