A former housekeeper for Meg Whitman was "emotionally and financially abused'' during her nine years of employment, an attorney alleged today, adding that the Republican gubernatorial candidate knew the woman was an illegal immigrant.
"In short it was a nightmare,'' said attorney Gloria Allred, who said Nikki Diaz Santillan worked as a housekeeper for Whitman for nine years before she was fired last year.
Allred said that during the woman's years of employment, Whitman caused her "to feel exploited, disrespected, humiliated and emotionally and financially abused.''
"The relationship was terminated last year by Ms. Whitman for what appeared to be political reasons involving Ms. Whitman's decision to run for governor,'' Allred said.
Allred contended that Whitman knew her client was an illegal immigrant, but kept her employed until she decided to run for governor.
Tom Hiltachk, Whitman's attorney, denied the allegation.
"This person was initially hired by Meg Whitman in November 2000,'' Hiltachk said in remarks reported on the Los Angeles Times website. "She filled out standard (Internal Revenue Service) forms and Department of Justice forms and presented her Social Security card and California driver's license. She filled out immigration forms that stated under penalty of perjury that she was a lawful resident.''
Hiltachk said the woman admitted in June 2009 that she was not a legal resident.
"She was immediately suspended and terminated on June 29, 2009,'' he said.
Whitman spokeswoman Andrea Jones Rivera said Allred's news conference was politically motivated. She called Allred "a shameful manipulator'' who is a supporter of Jerry Brown -- Whitman's Democratic opponent in the hotly contested governor's race.
"With the polls tied, it comes as no surprise that the morning after a successful debate for Meg that the sleaze machine of the political left is now focused on the politics of personal destruction.''
Whitman hired the woman through an employment agency and paid her $23 an hour. Whitman filed W-2 forms and withheld employment taxes. As far as I can tell Whitman did everything by the books. What more would you ask her to do.
It would have smudged her makeup.

How much did the Dems pay this idiot? Whatever it was, it was way too much, because Whitman obviously did everything she was supposed to do, and Gloria Allred, ambulance chaser extraordinaire, can go whistle Dixie for all the case she has.
Somebody on another thread pointed out that this is directed at Hispanics and is an attempt to stop them from voting GOP (I’m in CA right now, and believe me, most of the Mexican Americans I’ve met hate Obama and think he has killed business here). Personally, I think it’s such a lame attempt that you’d have to be a direct descendant of Cesar Chavez to fall for it.

I don’t much care who wins the CA gov race, as its government appears unsalvageable, but if this stunt makes even a few open-borders RINOs wake up and realize that maybe unrestricted illegal immigration isn’t such a great thing, and that illegals are backstabbing allies of Democrats and ambulance chasers, I can’t see the downside.

Oh the irony .... Texas teachers are the ones babysitting the illegal alien’s kids, in our public schools, while the illegal aliens are babysitting the rich white family kids!!

The commercial could open with Meg (mop in hand with bucket on floor) complaining loudly to her husband about the "challenges of everyday life." Her husband (in the next room) shuts off his vacuum cleaner, walks up to her and says tearfully, "Meg, you know you just can't get good help nowadays." At that point, the narrator reminds us that come November 2, "Californians can change things by electing Meg Whitman Governor!" Meg then hands the mop to her husband, smiles and winks at the camera.
Or, something like that.
That should take the sting out of all this!

Let me let you in on a little secret. They don't care.
The IRS just wants to make sure you pay your taxes and the SS just wants your FICA.
Outside of that they consider it none of their business. In fact the SS considers it none of your business either. They do not alert you that someone else might be using your number. Unless you file for benefits after that other person. Then they tell you by denying you SS until you prove that you are you.
Then they "adjust" your payment so you only receive credit for what you actually worked. The rest that was paid on your number? Well, they can't give it to the other guy so they keep it.
You also might be denied your full benefits if the other person filed at 62. So get ready to sue again.
It keeps the lawyers employed.

Look at all the headlines like Yahoo etc., they say Meg Whitman employed an Undocumented Immigrant. Then you read the story and the word “unknowingly” magically appears.
