I doubt the cited law enforcement authorities in the US and Europe speaking of the “suspected German terrorist” uttered that phrase and if they had, the reporter(s) should have thrown a red flag on the field. They insert these verbs to boost their word count and to simulate intelligence without regard to what they are allegedly reporting. I’m sorry, but the suspected terrorist was either captured or he wasn’t, and if he wasn’t, there is no story. “Journalism school” ain’t what it used to be.
