US and European officials said Tuesday they have detected a plot to carry out a major, coordinated series of new terror attacks in the United Kingdom, France, Germany and possibly the United States.
A senior US official said that while there is a "credible" threat, no specific time or place is known. President Obama has been briefed about the threat, say senior US officials.
Intelligence and law enforcement authorities in the US and Europe said the threat information is based on the interrogation of a suspected German terrorist allegedly captured on his way to Europe in late summer and now being held at Bagram Airfield in Afghanistan.
US law enforcement officials say they have been told the terrorists were planning a series of "Mumbai-style" commando raids on what were termed "economic or soft" targets in the countries.
In testimony before Congress last week, Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano said, "We are all seeing increased activity by a more diverse set of groups and a more diverse set of threats."

I think anarchists get a charge out of running amuck and getting away with it. I don’t think they set out to trash businesses in hopes of dying a martyr—or getting arrested and serving a life sentence. If they opt to pull off the magnitude of terrorist attack that could affect an election, they risk death or severe incarceration. So far that hasn’t been their MO.

I predicted a terrorist attack against the USA on our home soil for at least ten years before the 911 attacks. I have been predicting the same thing as Mumbai since the 911 attacks would happen in coordinated attacks nationwide since 911. It even showed up in a Tom Clancy book (The Teeth of the Tiger) and on an episode of Criminal Minds. Think of the traditional start to the Christmas shooping season: BLACK FRIDAY or the day following Thanksgiving. Think of every shopping mall in the nation packed to the gills. Now imagine Jihadis given a prearranged go-code to show up with AKs or whatever at the nearest mall to their location and start slaughtering the infidels. As many folks would be killed in the stampede to exit as would be killed by Jihadi gunfire. It's even possible that many would be killed by the friendly fire of responding police. I carry my Sig (C3 45) everywhere I go, including the mall when I go shopping with the wife (to me a fate worse than death but one I willingly accept every year to make certain she stays safe in unsafe malls) but in FL the decision to limit carrying on private property is largely a matter of county ordinance rather than state law. In Miami dade the law basically reads: Where posted no ccw, IF you carry and are detected by property representatives (security) you may be asked to leave the property. If you return, still armed and are AGAIN detected, you may be arrested for trespass after warning, a misdemeanor. It comes down to landowner policy and I'll violate anybody's POLICY to keep my family safe. But in other states it can be a felony offense...in which case, I'd encourage the wife to do the shopping online.
Imagine a MUMBAI in the malls across the nation on Black Friday. Imagine 50 or 100 teams plus the lone gunmen operating on their own against targets of opportunity. I would think the majority of targets would be in states with tough gun control and packed malls like the northeast and in California. I don't see a lot in states with SHALL ISSUE ccw permits, but it's always possible, I guess. Hence my standard armed condition. I'm almost always armed and carrying a spare mag as well. On those days, I may be armed with a high cap firearm like my Springfield Armory XD 45 compact with 11 in the gun and a 13rd spare mag. The C3 only has 7 in the mag + 1 in the tube. All SHEEPDOGS should be faithfully carrying at all times where lawful and practical to do so (for example as a teacher I cannot and do not carry at work. Not even in my vehicle -- that's a FEDERAL LAW no local ordinance here!). In a Mumbai style attack the first line of defense isn't going to be mall security or even the police, it's going to be those citizens carrying a firearm under permit (or not in certain states like AZ, VT etc.) This is where ccw has it over open carry. Folks open carrying will be targeted and cut down by the terrorists just like they'll target security and cops in the mall as a threat to the operation. But they won't know who is concealing the weapon until it's too late and the lead is flying back in their direction. Even then, we have to be EXTREMELY careful to not harm innocent sheep caught in the crossfire while the attacking wolves will have no such restrictions. Sorry, but that is just the cost of being the SHEEPDOG on duty at the moment. Hopefully there will be more than one on duty when the attack starts. But alone or not, the SHEEPDOGS must respond. I predict that it will be the armed citizen that shuts down the attack in at least one instance. If it does go like that, I think you can safely kiss the gun control movement as a political entity Buh-BYE for a long time.

It would in the longer term, but the Regime is playing for the short term. Something very bizarre and cataclysmic will likely occur between now and Election Day. These people will stop at nothing to hold power.
I agree with you Ex. If these thugs have half a brain, which they likely do - they will be avoiding states/cities with accessable carry/ conceal carry laws and target the liberal bastions like CA, NY and the sort just because they know the sheep will be unarmed.
Unless Obama single-handedly negotiates a 7 year peace agreement between all UN member nations.
