Clinton's email fundraising message to voters going out today calls them "two candidates whose creative ideas, proven ability to make progress and passionate commitment to our children's future will bring back the California dream."
Clinton's letter says that Brown -- running against Republican former eBay CEO Meg Whitman -- "was getting things done for a greener economy 30 years ago."
And Newsom -- in a battle with GOP Lt. Gov. Abel Maldonado -- has been called "our country's greenest mayor" for his work on alterntive energy and climate change issues, Clinton says.
The fundraising appeal from Clinton obtained by the Chronicle will no doubt we welcomed by party activists, as it's coming from a man who's arguably the country's most popular Democrat -- and that includes over President Barack Obama. Party insiders hope his pitch will help motivate young voters and their grassroots to get to the polls in a year in which the GOP voters are reportedly more energized.

moonbeam brings back about as many bad memories of the 70s as anyone I can think of, short of manson. if it’s brown, flush it down.
newsom is a joke. silver spooned pr*ck, God save California from him ever gaining a high state office.
” ‘the kind of leadership California needs’ on green tech and alternative energy”
If leadership means practical experience what jobs, at any level, has either one of these candidates have in green jobs and alternative energy sources? Not standing outside an building but working inside in construction or building new products or power sources.
They are professional politicians who have no long term experience in any profession.
Why is long term experience important? Long term experience gets you beyond the initial federal grant/tax credits where you need to actually sell a product/energy source in place of producing power point slides.
California does not need Governor Moonbeam redux or Any Twosome Newsom. But they will deserve what they get.
W. C. Fields is losing it...
This is California we are talking about, and I live in this state of misery. Brown should not even be allowed to run. What about the term limits for governor?!
"You'd like to have a nose like that full of nickels, wouldn't you?"
