Can 20% of our population turn around an entire culture of mush heads? Sometimes it seems impossible.

“Do we, as a people, care more about some celebrity drug addict than we care about these soldiers, sailors, and marines?”

The answer depends upon party affiliation. I am not being snarky. It really does.

There really are two Americas. The intersections between the two are surprisingly few and narrow.

An active 20% can do this.

If I were a tin foil hatter, I’d think these tarts (lets not forget Paris Hilton) were hired by the administration to take our attention away from what really matters in this country. Local news sometimes covers losses of local troops, but mostly, it’s at least 75% fluff, 20% propaganda, and 5% news, mostly weather news.

Symptomatic of a much bigger problem.

Look at who the “stars” of society are - reality TV stars. How many people know more about what “Snookie” did last week than what Congress did last week?

We have nearly reached the point of true inversion - the biggest losers at the bottom of the barrel have been elevated to a level of importance completely disproportional to their contribution to society. Give a shout to the Japanese, who at least had the sense to toss that coke hag out of their country. Wonder if we'll ever learn?

“Don’t we care anymore about those who died for us?”

Only if the ‘caring’ advances a political agenda-—especially a progressive agenda

With all proper due and respect to our American Heros, and because this is a discussion board let me dissent a little from the media should not focus on tripe point. First of all and unfortunately a soldier dying is a dog bites man story, happens all the time, wish it didn't but it does. Secondly, it may not be in the best interest of winning a war to do the Walter Cronkite body count with inevitable we're losing opinion pieces attached to the death notices. Is America a warrior culture? I think not and focusing on American loses, and these are loses to America-our best and brightest, will turn people off. You can lose a war at home if the people don't support it, Sun Tzu noted. Support for this war is grudging, even the CoC isn't really supporting winning so the only thing left, if the military does want a a “win” is to let them be. This takes nothing away from the individual solider. Comments kindly accepted.

No. Americans gave up their liberty for a TV clicker. All 6 TV networks own all the cable channels. They all has Saudi or Islamic deals in the tens of billions. They got a muslim in the white hut.

The US Govt including CIA, NSA, Pentagon, DIA, etc is filled with muslim brotherhood moles. They are probably leaking intel back to al qeada and the taliban. The King of Saudi Arabia, who is a shareholder in at least 4 of the 6 TV networks including Fox, enjoys seeing US troops killed.

Someone has posted the quotes here. Killing American soldiers and humiliating the US Military in fron t of the ISlamic world is there goal.

Thank idiots who voted for the islamist and thank people who watch TV.

ALL of TV supports Hussein - the NFL, NBA, MBL and NCAA all support him. Keep watching dhiminis.

Thank you for an excellent post.

I’ve often wondered the same thing.

Sensationalism, political stunts, and gossip is what qualifies as news and apparently ratings is what matters.

Well, of course, because there is a Democrat in the White House. If Bush (or another Republican) was still in there, you'd hear about the deaths every day, all day. They would be front page on every newspaper. The press would ensure we knew about them and that they were are Bush's fault.

But because Obama is in the White House, all you hear is about Lohan.

I certainly care. The list of dead broke my heart. Each
the best we produce as a people.
Many of our countrymen have never learned anything but the rotten goods pushed by Hollywood and the left. They must be forgiven for being little more than animals in their sensibilities.

What strikes me the most is that the majority of the fallen are around the same age as Miss Lohan.
