The National Rifle Association last week endorsed "A plus"-rated Rep. Zack Space, D-Dover, over "A"-rated GOP challenger Bob Gibbs.

Space's campaign was quick last week to tout the NRA nod - and for understandable reasons. Eastern and southern Ohio's18th Congressional District is fertile turf for gun-rights issues.

The headline should read “NRA endorses Nancy Pelosi for Speaker”.

They just don’t get it. It doesn’t matter what this particular candidate thinks about guns. I’ts what his party thinks and wants to do with regard to guns that matters. Supporting any rat for election is the same as supporting Pelosi.

The NRA is about the NRA. With out a credible gun threat, there is no reason for their existence. They need the Democrats.

Dump the fat, Washington NRA and go with aggressive GOAL, or other organizations.

NRA endorsing a Democrat is like asking the TALIBAN to hold my gun on the battlefield........ Insanity.

I vote with my dollars between elections. NRA just gave to the socialist rat .

Also endorsed Chris Carney D-PA 10th District over challenger Tom Marino - R. They had previously endorsed the incumbent who Carney beat.

Add to it their involvement with the Disclose Act and what we have is another lobbyist organization gone to the dogs for political expediency. So can anyone tell me where Mr. La Pierre has been lately? He used to be everywhere, but now he has joined Dr. Smith, Lost In Space.

Zack Space "Votes with party 93%" source: Open Congress

WTG, NRA, you are helping to snatch defeat out of the jaws of victory! Surely support of party when that party is anti-2nd Amendment should have some place in your grading system. No way in the world should a party-liner such as Space get an A+. Your system is whacked.

Tom Gresham on GunTalk really took Mr. LaPierre to task over the DISCLOSE act, which would have given the NRA an exception in campaign spending, but left other good 2ndA groups out in the cold, e.g., JPFO, GOA, 2ndAS, CalGuns, KnifeRights, etc.

LaPierre came across as just another arrogant Washington bureaucrat. How the mighty have fallen.

Other FReepers on this thread are right: a vote for ANY Democrat is a vote for Pelosi and all the socialism she brings with her, including her hatred for the 2nd Amendment. The NRA should know that.

Y’all don’t get it.
The NRA is a tax-exempt non-profit organization. By the laws under which it is incorporated, it has to be a “non-partisan” organization or it can lose its tax-exempt status.
The NRA is not conservative, it is not liberal, it is pro gun-owner. The policy of the NRA is back incumbents who voted for their issues. If they backed an “A” rated ‘Pubbie over an “A+” rated incumbent Democrat, their enemies would have all the ammunition they needed to strip the NRA of its tax-exempt status.
I don’t like this either, but the NRA is being consistent with their principles.

“The NRA is not conservative, it is not liberal, it is pro gun-owner.”

Name one liberal (read Marxist-Socialist-Communist) who is in favor of citizens owning guns and fights for the 2nd Amendment.

“By the laws under which it is incorporated, it has to be a “non-partisan” organization or it can lose its tax-exempt status.”

To hell with their “tax-exempt” status. It’s time for them to take a stand and pay their taxes, like we all do. Your statement PROVES that the NRA is ALL ABOUT MONEY! If they want to ensure a Pelosi-led Congress and every incumbent Democrat that just happened to vote in favor of a certain gun law then it only proves they are wimps and do not care about citizens owning guns or the members that supported them for decades.

“Y’all don’t get it”

It’s the NRA that doesn’t get it. I never thought that after being a member for 40+ years that I would say......”SCREW THE NRA AND THE POLITICALLY CORRECT HORSE THEY RODE IN ON.”

I live in the 18th. Space is the guy who said that he votes the way he wants to, not the way his constituents want. After his vote of crap and trade or whatever, he received $4000.00 from pizzlozi and more from some other dimwit group. This is one time when the NRA should have just kept quiet. Space is using this issue to attempt to regain some of what he has already lost.
