A husband, a wife and her sister -- all uniformed federal officers in South Florida -- plotted to allow couriers to carry loads of cocaine and heroin on flights from the Dominican Republic via Fort Lauderdale to New York, authorities say.
The suitcase scheme worked for a few years, until some of the couriers were caught with kilos of drugs, and federal agents figured out it was all an inside job.
This week, the group's ringleader, Cindy Moran-Sanchez, 32, a former Customs and Border Protection officer from Cooper City, was sentenced to 14 years in prison on an importation conspiracy conviction.

The same people who run GM and Chrysler and the whole govt.
The whole country has become a joke. Idiots traded liberty for a TV clicker.
Is’s not only happening in Florida, the majority of the country’s LEO’s are corrupt in some shape or another.
the whole state of Florida is a scam LOL..wanna buy a condo? Now is the time to buy!
Elizabeth Moran-Toala, sister, co-perp
Living proof that “Our Diversity Is Our Strength!”
The sentences should have included mandatory name changes to Cindy Moron-Sanchez, Elizabeth Moron-Toala, Joser O. Sanchez, and Joan Baez.
Certain ethnic groups gravitate towards Corruption, more than others.
This group betrayed the trust of a nation they were sworn to defend, and should pay a very high price.
They disgraced the badge and uniform and their fellow officers.
Drug War idiots showing up to defend their failed policies in 3.. 2... 1...
They professionalized that just like anything else the government does.
Exactly....how can it be that some folks that work at airports (housekeeping, dishwashers, etc.) cannot speak enough English to help you!
So many corrupt people grouping together to make their group even bigger. It’s the new pyramid schemes!
At least Christians know how it all ends if they read the Bible...
Utter nonsense.
Well, it depends on how you define it. Do many of them follow every rule, law, and regulation at all times?
It’s not serious, if a police officer speeds when off-duty, knowing he only has to show his badge if he’s pulled over?
There are over 800,000 law enforcement from local to federal.
That pretty much says it right there.
Corruption implies something quite a bit more sinister.
Yes, that is true, but there is the slippery-slope theory. First you speed, then you arrest some guy who you have a personal dispute with, and if no one says anything, you just keep going. Most guys don’t start out with serious offenses.
The slippery slope theory that is wrong probably 90% of the time? Maybe more?
I think everyone, LEO or civilian, have gotten away with small offenses. And the vast majority of us don’t go on to bigger and more heinous offenses, simply because we got away with the small infractions.
I’ve known dozens of law enforcement officers, and I can’t think of a rotten apple in the whole bunch. A couple of jerks, but not corrupt. I don’t deny rotten ones are out there, but I reckon it’s more proportional to the percentage of criminals in society as a whole.
To say that the vast majority of LEO’s are corrupt is just stupid, and impossible to prove, since no evidence whatsoever exists to remote such a ridiculous assertion.
What does it say? Nothing and no facts to support your assertion.
