As the calendar rushes toward the Nov. 2 elections, prospects increase for a bloody "lame-duck" session. There is a laundry list of bills stacked up for passage that have not yet made it to the floor for a vote. After the elections, Democrats who lost will have nothing further to lose and will be eager to get as much of Obama's radical agenda enacted as possible. Lurking in the shadows is Sen. Chris Dodd's Livable Communities Act (S.1619). This bill will essentially write into domestic law the recommendation set forth in Chapter 10 of Agenda 21. Since the Clinton era, the federal government has been enticing and coercing local governments to transform their communities into "sustainable communities," as defined by Agenda 21. The Dodd bill brings down the heavy hand of government to force communities to conform. The implementation of Dodd's "livable" or sustainable communities forces the loss of individual freedom, serious reduction of private property rights and the erosion of a free market in real estate. If enacted during the lame duck session, it must be repealed by the new Congress. Sen. Feingold's Clean Water Restoration Act (S.787) is high on the priority list for passage. This bill would give to the federal government virtually every drop of water that falls on the United States to the federal government, regardless of whether it winds up in a river, a lake, a stream, a wetland, a prairie pothole, a mud hole or backyard fish pond on private property. Moreover, the bill also gives to the federal government authority to control all activity that may affect these waters, whether the activity occurs on private or public property. Should this bill become law, it will have to be repealed by the new Congress.

It’s going to get ugly. I see it more as a scorched earth session than a lame duck session if the ‘RATS lose the House.
Hmmm...aren’t there several special elections that could change the lame duck session?
Three things can stop this: elections of Republicans to the Senate in West Virginia, Illinois and Delaware. Those winning the senate election for these seats November 1st are sworn in the following day for the remainder of any Senate session as under state law they are also elected to fill out the unexpired term. 44 Republicans should be able to block this mess by filibuster.
This doesn’t belong in the Activism sidebar.
I really, really hope so.
sorry!
Yup. Several in the Senate.
I am a little worried about the lame-duck session, but not overly so. It’s very unusual for hotly controversial stuff to get passed during these sessions.
They can try but if Scott Brown doesn’t fold they may be looking at a dead duck session.
That's exactly how I see it. They are going to get pay back.
True. There are going to be democrats not up for election this year that aren’t going to want to take any big risks before facing elections next year.
Heh heh heh.
isn’t there a law to stop this? That no law could be passed after nov 2, until the new ppl join congress
Yes, I can name a few - Webb in VA, Tester in Montana, Nelson in Nebraska and Pryor in Ark - they vote for this junk and they are up for election two years hence.
The prospect of the damage they will inflict on us has me on edge. I’ve been trying to talk to everyone about it so they are prepared to fight back. Not sure there is much we can do though, which makes me even more worried.
I believe I read where the Colorado seat is also in this situation...Buck(R) is up over Bennet......Salazar’s old seat...
If it cannot pass cloture then it doesn’t matter.
forgot New York
I believe I read where the Colorado seat is also in this situation...Buck(R) is up over Bennet......Salazars old seat...
Yes, Buck is up. I put my KEN BUCK bumper sticker on this morning.
That’s good to hear. I, too, am worried about it. These elections are SO important!!!
