Pharmaceutical companies are once again interfering with your ability to access information about dietary supplements.
The Senate is debating a bill that will enable the FDA to put vitamin supplement makers in jail for ten years if they cite findings from peer-reviewed published scientific studies on the label of their dietary supplements or their Web site.
The pretext for these draconian proposals is a bill titled the Food Safety Accountability Act (S. 3767). The ostensible purpose of the bill is to punish anyone who knowingly contaminates food for sale. Since there are already strong laws to punish anyone who commits this crime, this bill serves little purpose other than enriching pharmaceutical interests.
The sinister scheme behind this bill is to exploit the public’s concern about food safety. Drug companies want to convince your Senators that an overreaching law needs to be enacted to grant the FDA powers to define “food contamination” any way it chooses.
Even today, the FDA can proclaim a dietary supplement as “misbranded” even if the best science in the world is used to describe its biological effects in the body. The concern is that the FDA will use the term “misbranded” in the same way it defines “adulterated” in order to jail dietary supplement makers as if they were selling contaminated food.
The new bill being debated in the Senate increases the penalties the FDA can use to threaten supplement makers to ten years in prison. The big issue here is that the FDA will use this as a hammer to threaten and coerce small companies into signing crippling consent decrees that will deny consumers access to truthful non-misleading information about natural approaches to protect against age-related disease.

In short -- It is the worst nightmare you can imagine. Obama and his corrupt cronies, working with his Food Safety Czar (a former Monsanto executive), are hell bent on destroying the health and vitality of Americans. First the elderly will die and then others will suffer and die, too. Also passage of these bills is being handled by Congress in secret and will put millions of people out of work. Or government has gone insane, IMPO.
Latest news from the Beltway: Although Thomas.gov shows Senate Bill S.3767 was on today's agenda for the Senate Judiciary Committee, the Committee web site is strangely silent on this bill being fast-tracked through the lame-duck Congress.

Congress has become a corrupt cesspool, complete turnover appears to be the necessary remedy.
Start with RINO KILL (politically speaking, of course), and the on to corporate special interest lobbyist.
This must have everything to do with zero-care. Toe the line all the way to un-healthful care. Time to rename herbals as food. Ha, that will last until 0 takes over that industry. .
IMHO: The people is power want Americans to sicken and die off. Especially the elderly and people who made up our former middle class. They want sicker, weaker, less alert, less intelligent people in control. Hence the move to wholesale Amnesty for Hispanics who as a group are more easily manipulated by greedy politicians.
They’re trying to clamp down on vitamins and herbal supplements.
This is a struggle as old as the 2nd Amendment battle, only in this case it’s the Food/Medical Industrial Complex pulling strings with the Hill and the Obamabots to take power over everything we put in our bodies.
Not everybody owns a gun. Not everybody takes Co-Enzyme Q or Colloidal Silver, but the principle is the same. It is OUR business, and we DON’T need the governments permission.
This should be everyone’s fight. For it’s all one or none...

My personal opinion: this is DOA, particularly if the GOP takes the House.
So now to add to my safehouse along with classic lightbulbs, a 50 year supply of vitamins.
They won’t retain their potency that
long. If this succeeds, I’ll have to divert
the money spent on supplements to a
cemetery plot.

I would say anyone who gets $ from Monsanto is suspect.
GMO and gene splicing. There’s a potato that has genes from a bacteria spliced in. That bacteria creates a poison that kills potato bugs. Insecticide built into the potato. Isn’t that something that can be stopped? I don’t want that.
I believe Europe is now poised to make such supplements and herbs completely forbidden/illegal within a year now.
