Via GOP12, Im surprised that this modest statement of painfully obvious fact is making waves today. Click the image below and skip ahead to 8:00 for the money part, although the whole things worth watching. He starts with a cute bit about phoning the families of National Guardsmen to say hi, proceeds to talk about Campaign 08, and then after the part about Obama praises Palin for her energy and spunk and passion. (Code words, says Ben Smith, trying to stir up trouble.) What makes this newsworthy, I guess, is that its a rare caution about hubris at a moment when not only has Obama been beaten to a pulp politically but establishment Republicans are themselves on the ropes and being hammered by tea partiers. The key word, though, is economy. Like Mitt says, it will come back despite The Ones best efforts to the contrary, and when it does hes going to get most of the credit. The only hope for the GOP nominee is that Romney is right in thinking that the American people have established a perspective on the President which is going to be lasting. Will it last, though? If unemployment starts to dip and Obama inches right to pass some economic legislation with the GOP Congress, hell sell himself next time as the centrist pragmatist of David Brookss dreams. Which will be Romneys cue to argue that the GOP needs a nominee whos equally centrist and can compete for swing voters, thus raising the question: Does a stronger Obama actually improve Mitts chances for the nomination by making electability more of an issue for base voters? Hmmmm.
I absolutely agree with your analysis, and I think it is only a matter of time before this happens.
Thanks. Great ‘right on’ words from Pence!
Of course. He's got his eye on the White House, and he considers Sarah to be his biggest roadblock. Mitt's right. She is.
Romney and Obama agree on way too much
Yep...I can't hardly believe Romney said that...Romney might just as well throw in the towel with that statement. What a loser he is...talk about setting yourself up for a fall! Besides that Romney's a robot, reprogrammed to say and do what he is told....he's never had one single political thought or idea that wasn't dictated to him. Saying Obama would be hard to beat is simply his great arrogance surfacing....what a cad!
Romney’s like McCain which is why he is sooooo disliked. He flips and flops with the wind..and he’s another democrate kiss butt guy...he loves their attention...and they see that he gets it.
Maybe Hugh Hewitt can put that on the cover of his sequel book to “A Mormon In the White House” when he backs Donny Osmond.
Glad I was on FreeRepublic then, because many Freeper's educated me about a slick poltician from MA.
This guy is bad news.
Thanks Freepers!
“geesh....Romney....go away.”
I second the motion!
He can't without addressing the birth certificate issue, and he can't produce an acceptable one.
Yes, at the very least there will be a right shift besides Congress in the state rep. houses and state senators that we should be able to get laws past that presidential candidates will have to prove their natural born citizenship and getting them to prove their jus soli birth in the U.S. is the first step.
He’s right, it would be hard for him to beat Obama, that’s why we’re going to get somebody else to do it.
I would vote for Osambo before I would vote for Mittens. The damage ‘0’ does will be rightfully attributed to him. RINOs destroy our party. Just look how hard they are to pry from their lofty perches. Murkowski, Castel, Lazio, et al are the results for settling for an almost Republican. Never a McCain again, never.
Romney is a flawed candidate but could he be right? Axelrod is leaving to plot the campaign for 2012 and Obama could give us amnesty before the election. Obama has Soros money and leg happy media who will go all out for him. The best hope of defeating Obama is through the Democratic Party.
Why do these people bother to call themselves Republicans?
LOL.
