Officer in Costco shooting says man raised gun, didn’t know it was in holster
Las Vegas Sun ^ | 23 Sept 2010 | Cara McCoy, Dave Toplikar

Posted on 09/24/2010 9:34:59 AM PDT by Mr Rogers

This comes from a Vegas paper, so I'll summarize:

Day 1 of the inquest into the police shooting of Eric Scott at a Las Vegas Costco emphasized the large amount of prescription painkillers found in his body. The assistant DA suggested Scott was suicidal.

Day 2 apparently spent a bunch of time explaining why there will be no video...basically, the machines weren't working, sorry.

Then the cop who was closest to Scott testified. In his testimony, he says the gun found by investigators was in its holster, and that he didn't realize the gun was in its holster when he shot Scott. That info comes about 2/3 of the way into the article:

Shia’s doing his best to dress like a cop or other security authority.

He should have worn his pink dress and clown wig.

In more news, Scott’s girlfriend ignored her subpoena to testify at the inquest. The Scott family attorney failed to hand over a list of witnesses to be subpoenaed. A third Costco employee testified that Scott appeared to be under the influence of drugs, was confused, and wrote illegibly on his membership application.

Dr. Alane Olson, a medical examiner in the Clark County Coroner’s Office, testified that Scott had a number of drugs in his system when he died. The levels of morphine and xanax found by a toxicology screen conducted after his death were very high and potentially lethal, she said.

Really? You read all forty? Do you have a link? It might clear up a bunch of questions. From this article came the first hint he had prior conflicts while armed, and the first time being under the influence of drugs was mentioned.

Metro is going down, Metro-boy.

They can win the battle with their little kangaroo inquest, but they'll lose the war.

No, IC, our old pal LVRJ has been running Metro's smear stories for a while now.

Shooting a guy face down on the ground isn't, um, overkill?

C'mon guy. The first two shots took him down. 5 more? One through the buttocks?!

They weren't looking to stop him as he wasn't doing anything. 7 shots mean to kill.

If this guy had been black, this anti-cop crap could just as easily be coming from a black panther ... and I’m the “jackboot licker”? Please.

You side with the anti-cop activists all you want. There’s a long history of them ... Mumia Abu Jamal, Rodney King, Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson. I’m sure they’d appreciate your support.

Did you even read the early stories? The reporters read the statements. And spoke to witnesses. And reported on them.

And they dug into his background. Interesting that reporters found nothing but Viola! a corrupt PD did. What A surprise!!

I’m not saying the police didn’t screw up and kill the guy, I’m not saying they did.

Actually, thats the only thing we know for certain they did.

But not the early ones. The early articles had all kinds of statements from witnesses calling the police liars.

I never denied they shot to kill. They did. Is it advisable to shoot-to-wound under threat from an armed man under the influence?

Really? Based on....what? What liability would Costco face? Why would they conspire? Why would a loss prevention guy making, what, less than $15 an hour lie? What possible civil liability would they face?

As for the LVPD their best defense against civil liability is to hang the officer out to dry. All they have to do is show he violated policy and they cut him loose. Insurance can cover any settlement and the people get stuck for the bill. It is a truther argument that the PD, Costco, the labs, the D.A., the coroner, Seagate, etc. all conspired together and the press won't find out. The Pentagon can't keep anything secret, but Costco is unbreakable?

So many conspiracies, so little oxygen.

That still doesn't exclude “and there still aren't enough facts for objective people to make an informed, fair decision.”

That's a smear. You the guy that called Erik Scott a "cockroach" over on the LV news boards last month?

"Day 2 apparently spent a bunch of time explaining why there will be no video...basically, the machines weren't working, sorry."

I said on the day that the shooting happened that the video would tell the tale either by its showing or by its magical "disappearance."

The disappearing video is evidence of corruption. It's evidence of guilt in that it is part of the mandatory process of a coverup.
