"Sesame Street" started previewing its 41st season on the Web this week, releasing teaser clips featuring stars like Jude Law, Will.i.am, Colin Farrell, and Run-DMC's Reverend Run. One of the shorts, however, got a lot more attention than the rest: a two-and-a-half minute video of pop star Katy Perry singing a reworked version of her 2008 hit "Hot N Cold" with Elmo. The issue: the perception that Perry's outfit wasn't appropriate for a show geared toward children ages one to six.

Elmo doesn’t wear clothes. Most babies in diapers hate being in clothes.
There wasn’t outside pressure to censor the particular clip. This was a decision made in-house at the Childrens Television Workshop which produces ‘Sesame Street’.
...And BTW, it wasn't just her cleavage, her skirt was so short I think I could see her herpes too.
I thought the whole routine was pretty harmless and even somewhat cute.
Although I think Elmo must gay to run from Katy Perry.
Sorry but I don’t want my little daughter to be exposed to a tramp and getting the idea that women have to dress like whores. Maybe she wasn’t showing any more than your kids see, but if more traditional parents have to start censoring Sesame Street, then something’s horribly wrong in the world.
*guffaw*
Uh, no. Not appropriate for that age group.
But I'm not of that age group. I, uh, liked it. Except for the furry blue guy who kept popping into the scene. He was distracting.
Now if only we could get a shot of Parus major together with Sula nebouxii, perhaps hanging out by some bushes...
(Okay, I'm going to shut up now.)
By the way, you might want to keep them away from Disney movies as well...
Is it just me, or does this gal look like Linda Rohnstadt as a youngster?
I feel like I’m living in a different universe. My husband, daughter (15), and I saw the clip on Fox News and were appalled. When my daughter was young, I watched Sesame Street with her, as with all educational programs except Steve Irwin’s show (I could see his death coming but knew it wouldn’t be on the show.) I was there to change the channel or give an opposing view point. I also learned how to block The Cartoon Network and Disney. Maybe that and homeschooling is why at 15 she is in her 3rd year at the local university. None of us thought her clothes, although slutty, were the big issue. The bigger issues were pushing someone with objectionable values and songs, i.e., child hears song, wants parents to buy album, lyrics were changed, album has quite objectionable lyrics and songs, etc. I think all of us thought it was close to trying to make a porn star acceptable on Sesame Street. We were disgusted. Your mileage may very. Maybe they can redeem themselves by having Lady Gaga explaining how “Disco Stick” is really a pogo stick. /sarc
It just had to be done.
This was great
