You cannot tax the rich. They will not hold still like sheep to be shorn. They have the ability to rearrange their affairs to avoid punitive taxation. Whereas those in the middle class are not so agile or resouceful. That’s why the government must be contained. Because after they fullfil their promise to raise the taxes on the rich it will not be enough. They will then need our help.
Just remember the last scene in “Macbeth” where he’s all alone in the castle and the forces of justice are closing in on him.

On taxes, Republicans have held to the strongest position politically and economically: no hikes on anyone while the economy remains fragile. They have correctly argued that major tax hikes on capital investment and small-business income would depress the business activity and job creation that our economy needs. It’s a significant mistake, therefore, that the Senate Republicans’ tax proposal fails to extend all of the current tax rates.
Specifically, their proposal, which establishes their opening position for negotiations, allows one of the most hated taxes of all, the federal death (or “estate”) tax — which, under the phase-out plan put in place by the 2001 tax cuts, finally reached zero this year after 92 years — to return next year.

President Obama Repeatedly Misapplies Citizens United in Attempt to Smear Americans for Prosperity
President Obama has recently singled out free market grassroots group Americans for Prosperity in several fundraising speeches:
“Right now all around this country there are groups with harmless-sounding names like Americans for Prosperity who are running millions of dollars of ads against Democratic candidates all across the country. And they don’t have to say who exactly the Americans for Prosperity are. You don’t know if it’s a foreign-controlled corporation. You don’t know if it’s a big oil company, or a big bank. You don’t know if it’s an insurance company.” –President Obama
In response to the President’s repeated attacks on more than 1.5 million Americans for Prosperity (AFP) activists in all 50 fifty states, AFP President Tim Phillips released the following statement:
“For the third time in just over a month, President Obama has attempted to cast a shadow on the grassroots uprising that is rejecting his failed policies. In a blatant attempt to raise funds for Democratic candidates, the President has repeated a factual falsehood about the Citizens United Supreme Court decision and how it affects Americans for Prosperity.
“The President has repeatedly stated that because of the Citizens United ruling, special interests are now able to contribute to the political process in new ways and that one of these new avenues for participation is to give money to AFP. The President contends that Citizens United allows corporations to hide behind AFP in order to accomplish their goals. This is a sad and weak attack.
“Given that among the President’s thin resume of qualifications for office was a brief stint as a lawyer and constitutional law professor, it’s odd that he continues to mischaracterize Citizens United. The landmark case recognized the right of corporations and unions—a group that includes the President’s political allies and a fact he conveniently omits on the stump—to spend money and contribute to the political process just like everyone else.
“Americans for Prosperity, and its sister organization Americans for Prosperity Foundation, have been fighting alongside grassroots American activists since 2004, well before the Citizens United decision. The relevant Supreme Court decision that confirmed our Constitutional right to protect the privacy of our supporters was not Citizens United but 1958’s NAACP v. Alabama, which found that membership organizations have a right to protect the anonymity of their supporters because forced disclosure would risk retribution that could chill their free speech rights, just as the President is attempting to do to AFP.
“The President’s baseless and factually inaccurate attacks on AFP’s more than 70,000 individual donors and more than 1.5 million activists is only further evidence that the Hope and Change we were promised has quickly descended into more of the same partisan political rhetoric that so many across this country desperately wanted Obama to change.”
“If President Obama wants to know who AFP is, he can come to any one of our hundreds of grassroots events across the country. Maybe then he will stop these baseless attacks and focus on real issues important to the American people.”
AFP (Americans for Prosperity) Raises Money for the Left?
He did it again.
At a fundraiser in Connecticut, President Obama’s remarks were dripping with contempt when he talked about you and the other 1.5 million citizen-activist members of AFP:
“…right now, all across the country, special interests are planning and running millions of dollars of attack ads against Democratic candidates….Millions of dollars. And, the groups are benign-sounding: Americans for Prosperity. Who’s against that? [Laughter] Or Committee for Truth in Politics. Or Americans for Apple Pie. Moms for Motherhood. I made those last two up. [Laughter]”
“…You don’t know if it’s a Wall Street bank. You don’t know if it’s a big oil company. You don’t know if it’s an insurance company. You don’t even know if it’s a foreign-controlled entity.”
He made similar remarks in Texas last month and raised $985,000.
Tickets to this Connecticut fundraiser cost $1,000 per person. $12,400 if you wanted a picture with the President. With an estimated 300 people in attendance, they raised quite a pretty penny here by attacking YOU and AFP!
Plus, fundraising letters and emails signed by Nancy Pelosi, Clinton operative Paul Begala, and other high-profile names on the Left use AFP to raise the money that finances their assault on free markets and the Constitution.
