Madison WI PD Uses Disorderly Conduct Charges to Suppress Second Amendment Rights

With no clear definition of what constitutes behavior that is 'disturbing' or 'disorderly', many in law enforcement use such laws as a way to both control and punish citizens for otherwise legal and constitutionally protected behavior.

And thus the harassment suffered by five law-abiding members of Wisconsin Carry at a Culver's restaurant in Madison, Wisconsin last Saturday evening should come as little surprise.

I cannot believe how bare-faced the Madison Police Department memo was in their goal of stamping out the Second Amendment rights of citizens in their town! :(

I’m sure we will hear shortly from ACLU and Eric Holder concerning this assault on civil rights.

Maybe we need to call the police on the police for disturbing the peace?

Funny how quick the cops are to show up for 5 citizens sitting quietly - maybe they can fine them!!! How exciting! make the “big bust” with no risk.

Seems to me that this 62 year old psycho should be sent to a shrink to find out the cause of her intense paranoia and fear of inanimate objects.

If I were any of the five, I would haul that old busy body into court and make an example out of her.

The two arrested without cause and searched incident to that arrest certainly have a great case since the courts in Wisconsin have stripped officers of qualified immunity for the exact same factual pattern in the past.

The real goal going forward is to attack the Disorderly Conduct charge as unconstitutionally void for vagueness as well as having a chilling effect on both the US Second Amendment and the Wisconsin constitutional right to bear arms.

We had sort of the same thing in Joplin, MO, only different (and much funnier). Someone called 911 to report a person menacing and threatening cars with a machete on one of the busiest streets, at one of the busiest intersections, in town. Police pulled up, locking up their brakes, jumped out, drew weapons and had the 16-year-old ‘perp’ down on the ground. Evidently his mask and plastic weapon were realistic and the leo’s didn’t notice the sign he was carrying or the large HALLOWEEN STORE behind him that he was promoting! The store had been open for weeks and there were employees at the street most of the time in costume. After the incident, the kid changed into a convict outfit and all of the other employees donned orange jumpsuits and prison outfits.

Based upon the possibleity for violence everyone in Madison should call the police everytime they see a LEO because they have proven that they will be violent. Lock up the Madison Police.

The last time Wisconsins’ leftist police officials abused the 2nd amendment rights of an open carrier, the cops were sued and the man WON BIGTIME!!! This needs to happen on a DAILY BASIS until leftists get the idea...that is, get tired of PAYING, for they will NEVER understand or support freedom.

Agreed. The only way to get through to these people is the courts and their wallets!
